What movies have you seen recently?

Fantastic Beasts 2: GREAT

Better than the entire Harry Potter series. Maybe because it focuses on grown-ups who have a mastery of their powers, and not just learners.

Creed II: Disappointing

Probably a worse movie than the first Creed but slightly more entertaining?

- Horrible send off for Rocky's character.

- Baby Creed is still a terrible character.

- Brigette Nielson dinner scene was a massive missed opportunity.

- The "strategy" going into the final fight for the smaller, lighter, faster Creed is to get close and brawl with Baby Drago? Wtf?

- Baby Creed (the heavyweight champion of the world, son of Apollo Creed) beats up a meth head ex convict in the desert and is waaaaaay too happy about it.

Creed III? No thanks. Give us a Drago movie next.

I noticed The Messenger was on Prime. It is a damn good film I haven’t seen in years. It stars Ben Foster and Woody Harrelson as the soldiers that go door to door to inform family that their loved ones were killed in combat. It has some very tough scenes to watch that will hit you in the gut. I remember thinking it was one of the best films released that year. If you haven’t seen it highly recommend.

Forgot to post about some other films I’ve watched over the last month.

Mississippi Burning - Watched this for the first time for some reason I never got around to watching it. I didn’t realize the cast behind this. Was a powerful film. I miss Hackman he needs to come out of retirement.

Diggstown - watched this on Prime first time seeing it since I was young. Still an enjoyable dumb fun movie. I really like the cast and premise.

The Neverending Story - introduced my oldest son to this. I haven’t seen it in many years. I’m surprised how well this movie holds up I enjoyed watching it again. I really like the character/set designs and musical score. Still holds up.

You Were Never Really Here - Well that was a strange film nothing like I expected. Joaquin Phoenix was really good in it though. A slow burn of a film.

Hereditary - I loved it! One of the best horror films I’ve seen in awhile.

Free State Of Jones - Watched this on Netflix. I liked the first 2/3rds. The last act could have been better.

The Green Mile - watched this on Netflix I haven’t seen it in a very long time. I forgot how great it was. Good cast all around.

Hostiles - Watched this on Netflix. Was a really good film with great performances and great cinematography. I’m surprised this did not get more recognition that I can remember.

Ant Man and the Wasp - was a fun ride, I kinda liked the first one more though. The first movie is a MCU favorite of mine.

We also had a couple friends over enjoyed some drinks and watched Bad Santa (first one) last weekend. I love that movie it is so f***ing hilarious. One of my favorites around the holidays lol.

Worst case of false advertising ever.

Wreck it Ralph 2: OK

My expectations were sky high for this film, so I was disappointed to see it just filled with memes, and a dragging third act. It definitely did not have the heart from the first film.

I am so over Tom Cruise. He's been great in some fun movies but current old man Tom Cruise sucks. Please Hollywood, stop casting him.

Creed 2 - Meh! Wasn't a huge fan of the first, but this sequel is much worse. Acting seemed off. Dialogue seemed shallow and weak. The overall story is just weak and basic...and to topp it off, the fights are pretty boring.

It lacks pretty much everything that made the Rocky movies so good.

what

his latest Mission Impossibles have been the best in the series since the 1st one

If you look over the last 10 years he has only done 3 bad movies that I can think off...Jack Reacher 2, The Mummy and Knight and Day.

I didn't remember my reaction to Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, so I looked at what I rated it on IMDB. 1. LOL! Knight and Day I rated my IMDB average, 5. Didn't see The Mummy. The rest of the decade for him was 'Good' according to my IMDB ratings.

Disagree completely. I hated his last MI. Two hours of non stop action. All hammer, no ballad.

He's never been a good actor. He always excelled based on his looks. Now that his looks are gone we're left with a bad actor.

Maybe so, but he's never good in any of his good movies anymore.

He was great in Top Gun back in 1986. Now he's a bad actor that takes roles away from good actors.

Then again, you're talking to someone who generally likes it when no known actors are cast in films.

Um no.

Aquaman 4/5

Awesome. A bit bloated but really fun and looks fantastic and everyone clearly had great fun filming.

You realize these 2 posts contradict each other, right?

You are obviously trolling...and not very well.

Sunset always going to Sunset.

Anyway, Cruise acting wise he was good in Rain Man, The Firm, Born on the 4th Of July, A Few Good Men, Jerry Maguire, Magnolia, Collateral, The Last Samurai, Minority Report, Tropic Thunder.

I agree with that list for the most part.

I disagree that he was good in The Last Samurai (passable at best), Collateral (easy role), and Tropic Thunder (Look Tom Cruise is trying to be funny).

All his other films benefitted from his youthful charm. He no longer has that Ace card up his sleeve. Now he's just a mediocre actor in his mid 50's who tells his makeup team "Make me look like I'm 40 so I can have a 28 year old love interest".

He's now creepy and distracting in all of his films.

Spider-verse: FUN

It was a thrilling adventure! The story had a lot of heart, and although the chromatic aberration, motion blur, and ghosting seemed a bit excessive for me, the animation overall was a marvel to look at.
