Angel Has Fallen - surprisingly better than expected.
Predictable plot (albeit with a couple of surprising developments), but brutal action sequences, and some fascinating social commentary. I loved Nick Nolte in this - one of his scenes nearly brought me to tears, believe it or not. Also, stay for the bonus scene before the credits roll.
It's not the next Interstellar, though in many ways I liked Ad Astra better. It can't be the next Interstellar simply because lacks the crazy visual FX spectacle of a Blackhole.
It's strong point visually at least is loads of detail regarding near future space travel if people like Elon Musk can get us there. For some reason I just enjoy the hell out of seeing that.
I kinda felt Tommy Lee Jones character could have been explained more, but not totally necessary. I think his character is symbolic.
I think people will take away different conclusions from this movie. I wasn't so positive at first, but after thinking about it I feel satisfied with this film.
MAD MAX chase on the moon!
My spoiler thought on the senior McBride is he was like Ahab from Moby Dick singularly obsessed to the point of letting crewman die. The son learns the truth his father found. We are it at least in this part of the universe or even the whole galaxy. Humanity is alone.
Which means unlike Intersteller there is no help from outside coming. No advanced civilization is going to save us from ourselves and our shortcomings.
