What movies have you seen recently?

After reading the polar opposite reviews from Plainview and Videodrome, I decided to watch Ad Astra today. I actually enjoyed it.

It reminded me a lot of 2001 and Gattaca. Ultimately, I enjoyed the action sequences, all of which were unexpected for me, and I liked seeing the glimpses of the state of humanity in the future. It was a fascinating look. Tons of great visuals.

The main character's story in the film was not as profound as I would have liked (the ending was spelled out far too clearly for my tastes), but I did find satisfaction in the story's resolution.

I agree with the action scenes.

It Chapter Two.

I liked it. I'd give it a 7 with the first movie scoring an 8.
I was surprised at the jump scares seemingly coming at you like machine gun fire throughout large chunks of the movie. The comedy lines were good.

I don't remember any of the IT mini series characters being gay. Did I miss that as a teen or was that a change for today's woke sjw society?

X-Men Dark Phoenix - Bad but at least we won't have to watch Jennifer Lawrence sleep walk through her performances in these movies anymore

Joker - 9/10

its a heavy movie but man i loved it, the pacing, the acting, the music, the direction... all perfect

I also really liked the Wayans integration, the fact batmans parents were killed by jokers movement, its poetic. I wish we could get batman movies based in this cannon

I will be honest, i got goosebumps when joker stook up on that vehicle and drew on the smile with his blood

man he is by far the greatest villain ever

Watched the Rob Zombie Halloween films last night. I hadn’t seen the remake in many years. I thought it was still decent.

Was my first time watching the sequel. While I give him props trying to do something different with the sequel it was just bat s*** crazy and not that good.

A couple movies for me recently which is a lot for me. A Quiet Place a couple weeks ago. Enjoyed it although the twist, if you want to call it that, could have been done better I think. And just finished Hereditary. It was good until the ending, which fell a bit flat I think. Also didn't find it that tense outside of a couple scenes.

RE: A Quiet Place

Are you talking about when the Dad sacrifices himself for the kids at thee end of the movie? Because if so, you could kind of see that coming from a mile away

Nah more along the lines of what "hurts" them. You would think that someone, especially scientists, would have figured out a creature with extreme hearing abilities would be hurt by possibly loud noises or feedback. I'd have to look at the newspaper articles to have a better idea if they really had any time to figure anything out I guess. Either way, I prefer something like Signs where the water twist in that just kind of hits you right away, and from what I remember isn't hinted at like the hearing aids are in this.

Finally saw IT: chapter 2. Very long mixed bag, but had it's moments. FX sometimes seemed off, but I liked how surreal some scenes where.

Way to many fvcking flashbacks make this movie long, but kind of unavoidable.

Not enough gore. I am not a big gore hound, but I think it has a place in a movie like this to sell what a monster Pennywise is. It's like they can't connect CGI teeth with the actor to have a visually believable scene biting them, it always just stops short.

Ending was just surreal chaos with a spider clown, but kind of entertaining like a frantic final boss fight. Someone should do a Leroy Jenkins edit version of it lol.

Otherwise, Bill Skarsgard still does a good job with what he has to work with.

Ad Astra - The most boring movie I have seen in a long time, maybe ever.

IT 2 - poor.

Master & Commander - Very good. Bluray audio is fantastic.

Spoiler!

I had hoped they would’ve done something different than the spider. Haven’t seen it yet.

That signs twist is actually dumb. Why the f*** would you invade a planet that is mostly made up of the verything that kills you. Just dumb...then again it is M Night Shamalabam.

As for the Quiet Place: They may very well experimented with noise but never found the right frequency. It is one of those things you cann assume or not even think about but still makes sense in the movie.

I'll give you the possibility of a specific frequency causing it. In the case of Signs we don't have enough to go on. Outside of Earth and possibly some moons in our solar system, there isn't liquid water anywhere else that we know of. Did the aliens in Signs even have liquid water where they are from? Maybe they're not even familiar with it which is why they wouldn't know.

The movie implies they know what it is and stayed away from it. That implies they know the danger of it.

Alright but the reveal of the aliens in Signs was so much better.
