What movies have you seen recently?

Rewatching the movie Logan. Still a damn good film, too bad Fox couldn’t get their s*** together after Days Of Future Past. I still need to get around to watching New Mutants.

Curious what MCU is going to do with X-Men and who the cast for the rolls. While the last two films had a lot of problems I still enjoyed the casting.

I wish there could be a Hulk film more like that with a more psychological look at Banner. He actually has multiple personality disorder, or at least a version of him in the comics did; I don't know if they changed that.

Army of the Dead was bad but I was actually still entertained. So does that mean it was bad or was it... not bad?

Watched MI Ghost Protocol last night. Was never really a big MI fan outside of the original. But last year decided to make my way through the series whenever it was on some streaming service. Don't watch many movies so this has been a long process and finally got to 4 last night. Was pretty good. Had recently played Death Stranding so recognized the actress that played Fragile in that. But Paula Patton in the green dress when they were in India holy smokers.

They pick up hardcore after Ghost Protocol in my opinion. The next two are awesome, Fallout especially.

Fallout is a fantastic action movie. Great looking 4K UHD as well.

I just bought the new remastered anniversary Bluray of the original Mission Impossible. Just showed up yesterday, haven't had a chance to watch it yet.

Bit behind on my mini-reviews. Here ya go!

Cruella: meh. It's like Joker, but suitable for children.

Promising Young Woman: boring. Needed to be much more violent and sadistic.

The Rental: OK. I liked the acting, but the story was meh. Tried to turn a slasher flick into some exposition about cheating spouses.

Spiral: A direct-to-tv version of Saw. Watch it if you really miss the Saw series. Very predictable, but it's a by-the-numbers Saw movie.

Quiet Place 2 - Basically the same as Quiet Place 1 but reshot and edited. It isn't bad, but doesn't really build much on the first.

We watched the new The Conjuring on HBO Max late Friday night. I thought it was worth the watch if you like the other films. Wilson and Farmiga are still good in their roles.
I haven't seen a Conjuring movei since the second one. Will I be lost without watching The Nun and Annabelle?

We had an unexpected heatwave, kept knocking out our internet over the weekend. Yay for having a Blu-Ray collection!

Mission Impossible - I for got how very DePalma-y the first one is (which is a fantastic thing). The new 15th anniversary Bluray is great looking.

Jeremiah Johnson - Wish there were more "mountain man" movies. This is still one of the best. Utah scenery galore.

The Last Hard Men - Late Charles Heston vs. James Coburn movie. The first 80% mostly feels like an old very generic '60's era Western, the last 20% ratchets up the violence massively. Unexpected ending.

I’ve only seen the main Conjuring films. Didn’t bother with the spin offs since I heard they were not as good as Conjuring.

Annabelle Comes Home is a lot of fun. I've heard it described as "Goosebumps in The Conjuring universe", which is fairly accurate. The rest of the spinoffs / associated films I can do without.

Still haven't had a chance to watch the new one due to the internet outages this weekend, maybe tonight.

HBOMax managed to somehow deactivate both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos across numerous steaming devices late last week, so I've still not been able to watch the new Conjuring as I'm waiting for them to fix that shiz. Never thought it would take them a full week, hopefully it wasn't intentional.

Those Who Wish Me Dead - Pretty meh. Basic, predictable, nothing noteworthy.

Leon - Still fantastic. Jean Renno and Natalie Portman are great. Gary Oldman's overacting really helps make the antagonist.

The Leopard Man - 1943 - Picked up several Blurays during Amazon's recent sales, this was one of them. Probably my least favorite Jacques Tourneur / Val Lewton movie, but it's still a quick enjoyable watch if you like these kinds of old stylialized thrillers.

Luca, two out of four stars…

loved the art, but it was kinda weirdly mixed, felt like it was a British studio animation with the characters, but the rest was another. Still looked great though, but didn’t wow me.

Story was cute, predictable, seen and done before but not hammy or embarrassing.

You can honestly just skip this and you’ll be ok, like finding dory.

I will watch it again because I wanna see what Easter eggs were hidden. I wanna blame watching it at home but even with Onward and Soul I still found many Easter eggs on the first watch.

I don’t want to knock it but it kinda feels like Pixar’s equivalent to an ea sports game
