What movies have you seen recently?

Luck (animated film): cute cartoon. A little clever, but also quite predictable. Nice animation.

Day Shift: Had a lot of potential but got too cheesy in the second half of the movie.

House / Hausu (1977)

Quite a range between spooky and super crazy.

Videodrome's post made me realize I either saw that movie, or saw the VHS cover and wanted to see it. I should see it!

House is in the Criterion Collection now, believe it or not. It should be streaming on the Criterion Channel. Even though I've seen it a couple times now, I'm still surprised by a lot of the craziness and insane camera work.

Carter on Netflix - loved the trailer and thought I would enjoy this, but no. They tried to do the pseudo one shot all the time and didn’t work, too long and looked like some scenes they had a lot of time and money to do the action/VFX, and others no time and no money.

It started ok then it went downhill.

Samaritan - Pretty poor. Takes too long to get going. Actions scenes are pretty boring. The kid is annoying.

I watched this yesterday too. It kinda feels like it was two separate movie ideas that didn't work at all together, a violent super hero movie and a kids' super hero movie. Would have worked better had they chosen one of those two directions and stuck with it. It was shot well, had some nice camera work, locations, and looks nice in HDR at least.

Watched that documentary called Val on Amazon Prime on Kilmer’s life and career. It was really well done and heartbreaking. Highly recommend.

This description makes me think of Psycho Goreman. I heard people describe it as a Harry and the Hendersons type movie, except instead of sasquatch it has an evil killer alien sort of befriended by a horrible brat.
