What movies have you seen recently?

That’s it. I saw trailer once and didn’t realize it’s an intentional comedy movie. Was pleasantly surprised.

Did not see that.
Comedy? I didn't get that vibe from the trailer either. Seemed more like a serious film.

Clara (2018 film) - WONDERFUL

Beautiful little film about the search for extraterrestrial life. Kinda like Contact (Jodie Foster), but better. Can't stop thinking about this one.

Just saw Alita, 8.9/11, mind you I’m a weeb with some faint experience to the source material...great action sequences, sound was fantastic, story a bit rushed when compared to the novel but this was supposed to be a trilogy (might still be). Definitely worth the theater experience.

Note, it may be a higher score had I seen all of it, I missed a bit cos my dumbass got a free large drink and had to run to the restroom for a moment, will definitely watch again.

Detroit (2017 film) - For some reason I never got around to renting it during release. I’m always a sucker for movies on history, especially American history. I thought this was a damn good film. Liked the cast.

Alita: Battle Angel 8/10

Battle Angel is my all time favorite anime. I remember I had rented from Blockbuster. This is the single best anime to live action movie ever made. They nailed the anime perfectly. My only issue is not fleshing out secondary characters. The movie felt too rushed, which is weird for a 2 hour movie. Everything else is excellent.

Just watched The Blues Brothers (unrated) on Prime. It’s been almost two decades since I’ve seen this. Such a fun film. It’s crazy the musical cameos they put together for this some all time greats.

James Brown was high as a kite and I think their car ran on pure cocaine.

Alita Battle Angel was fun, memorable, and had some of the best CGI animation. Alita herself was believable, although there is quite a bit of uncanny valley at times. Her body movements and poses are spectacular. The acting feels natural. Makes me want to hunt down "making of" vids to see how they accomplished everything. Some of the dialogue gets a bit hammy every now and then, and I feel like they rush things a bit too fast at times.Minor complaints for what's a great film. Great action and visuals. Fingers crossed for a sequel as I want to see more of this world.

A Star Is Born - Date night with the woman I was surprised how much I liked it. Cooper and Gaga were really good. Great cast and soundtrack. Props to Cooper directing thought he did well I’m interested to see what he does again behind the camera. Was nice to see Dave Chappelle on screen again, Hollywood give that dude some more roles he was good in this.

The more I’ve thought about A Star Is Born today I think Cooper and Gaga could win the Oscar and I wouldn’t even think they didn’t deserve it. It is ridiculous Cooper was not nominated for Director. The main song from the film could probably win also.

Watched both A star is Born and Bohemian Rhapsody over the weekend. I preferred Bohemian Rhapsody but they were both excellent.
