What movies have you seen recently?

Just watched Into the Spider-Verse in 4K HDR streaming, awesome movie, I'd give it a 9 out of 10.

Collateral - 10/10

Had it on in the background while I was working on my taxes. One of my all time favorites, from one of my favorite directors. I don't watch movies that often, so maybe that is why I feel this way, but it just seems like there aren't movies in this style that often. A lot of it is probably on Mann as I love the look and feel of his movies, but so many movies these days just feel flat compared to something like Collateral.

Watched Aquaman tonight in 4K/HDR streaming, I really liked it but it does have a few flaws that I hope they fix for the sequel. The story could have been told better and some of the VFX were a bit iffy but I'm a sucker for underwater stuff. Even with it's flaws I enjoyed it more than Black Panther and Wonder Woman. Unlike those movies it had a great 3rd act so it finished on a high note. I'd give it an 8 out of 10.

I’ve never had surround sound before, I finally made the jump. Found an affordable set up that came with a sound bar, 2 rear speakers, and subwoofer (Vizio brand). With a buddy’s discount I got it for under $200. I tried out the Pearl Harbor bombing scenes night before last and after some adjustments it sounds good.

Tried out a full movie last night and the first thing that came to mind was the Lord Of The Rings extended edition trilogy. It’s been a few years so time to watch this in all its glory! (over a few nights)

First timer...then you have to watch movies with quality Audio.

Jhon Wick.
inception.
Matrix Trilogy.
Gravity.

To name a couple.

I have all those except Gravity. I also watched the shootout/highway chase scene in Bad Boys 2. Good stuff action wise.
Gravity sucks don't do it!!!!! Visually a great movie, just personally didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to. Huge Cuaron fan, especially Children of Men, but it just didn't do it for me.

Watched a few movies on the plane ride to and from California

Bohemian Rhapsody - Good movie, Rami Malek was great, but not Best Picture material. Dat Live Aid performance though. Brought a tear to my eye

Like Father - Movie with Kristen Bell and Kelsey Grammer. Netflix movie about workaholics that was overall enjoyable.

I really liked Gravity. It was a great experience seeing it in 3D in theater. I don’t think I’ve seen it on a home viewing.

Also forgot to mention Hacksaw Ridge. Actually my go-to demo scene. The first battle scene where the battleships soften up the ridge and the next 15 minutes or so. Absolutely fantastic on Atmos. Shells will move from the rear speakers, overhead then to the fronts. Bullets coming from all directions. Its just fantastic.

Captain Marvel - Decent.

Enjoyed it more than Blaclk Panther and Aquaman. My biggest issue is she doesn't come across as overly powerful relative to the current superheros we have.

Captain Marvel - After you get through the first 30 mins then it picks up I enjoyed it the rest of the way. Cast was good together. Not a top 5 MCU, but definitely worth the watch. Now I’m ready for End Game!

I remember enjoying 2012 in theater, for the most part it was a dumb fun disaster movie. Picked it up on Blu Ray for $5. The action still looks great on my 4K HDR set I’m surprised how it holds up. The sound is nice on the new surround sound.

I also picked up Gravity (BR) and Jurassic Park Fallen Kingdom (4K) on sale.

I saw Captain Marvel. Thought it was a solid origin story movie. Would put it in the mid tier of marvel movies like most of the origin story marvel movies when I rank them.

would you say it is important to watch before Endgame?

I would say not really. If you don’t mind spoilers:
basically an origin movie with the only really tie to IW being how Fury got the pager he used to summon CM at the end of IW. Even that’s not really important haha.

That being said, I really enjoyed Jackson and Larson’s chemistry on screen. They looked like they had a blast working with each other.

CAPTAIN MARVEL: 7.5/10

To echo everyone else, yeah Captain Marvel was a fun origin movie! It was slightly slow and without context in the beginning, but I think the filmmakers tried to put the audience in Vers' shoes - she arrived in Hala without any context either. And then as the gaps started being filled in for her, the audience was there for the ride.

As far as her power level - the movie seems to just touch on her capabilities, so don't expect that to be her final form.
