What movies have you seen recently?

Fear Street Part 3: 1666 - My least favorite of the three, but I still enjoyed it. Overall, pretty entertaining for what it is. Hopefully enough people watch these for them to make more of them.

Goblin Slayer: Goblin's Crown

Kind of a movie expansion of Season 1 of the show. The first 20 minutes is just an abridged version of Season 1 using clips from the show. The rest feels like a longer show episode saving another party member from a group of noobie adventurers who got killed and raped by goblins.

It was okay. The Goblin Slayer is like the Doom Guy of RPG Fantasy single mindedly focused on being a goblin murder machine.

Watched this with friends over discord last year during the lockdown. You pretty much nail it. Similar thoughts here too. It's a solid romp for sure, but it doesn't do much to expand or further the Goblin Slayer lore. Like many anime movies, it exists in a vacuum. It's still quite enjoyable. Plus it was quite fun to see the faces of my friends reacting to how brutal Goblin Slayer is. They did not expect rape scenes.

Long Halloween Part One - Thought is was solid. Really loved the art direction and animation. Definitely feels like a part one though. Best to be seen when the second releases something this year or when they cut it into one film like Dark Knight Returns.

Pig: a surprising movie that had potential and deserved to be longer.

Some gorgeous shots and scenes, but they were often too brief, and too few.
Please answer a question that's KILLING ME

Was that f***ing Michael J. Fox who was beating the hell out of Robin at the underground fighting ring? Like, I can't find that characters name anywhere on IMDB or anything and it's driving me insane!!!!

lmfao no. Unfortunately, Michael J. Fox can hardly sit still, let alone act right now.

Dude IDK that dude looked EXACTLY like him. Like I really don't disagree it wasn't him, but I have no idea who it could have been. He should have had a character reference on IMDB, but nope!

Jaws - Forever 10/10

A local theater had a showing of it last night. Packed house, it was awesome!
If they were able to find a way to remove the fake looking shark from the original and insert a realistic looking animatronic shark (no cgi) would you be opposed to it? I think with some smart editing it could be done. I only ask because they have come a long way with animatronics and in Jaws the only weak point is how fake the shark looks when you get a good look at it. It's still one of my favorite movies and always will be but I wouldn't be opposed to this as long as they didn't use a CGI shark which rarely looks real, I think the Shallows was the only move to make a CGI shark look real and even in that some shots were questionable.

The Dead Zone - I've wanted a bluray of this for years, I was quite surprised when my preorder showed up a week early. Very pleased to say it looks and sounds great. Such a great movie.
Funny, I was just talking about this film/series with some friends this weekend. I remembered Anthony Michael Hall played Johnny in the TV series, but totally forgot Walken played him in the film.

Jolt - Was ok. Kind of a backward, slower, less insane Crank. First time seeing Kate Beckinsale in something for a good long while now.

I watched the quiet place 2 and fast 9 last 2 weeks.

Quiet place 2 is a pretty good sequel. they are able to keep the supended even when the mobs were already reveal early, or in the first movie if you already watched that, with great story.

fast 9. was shocked that the „kid“ in Tokyo drift, was the middle age rocket guy. i forgot how long the series runs, and that the „kid“ was already in late twenties when he played a teenager. Jodana still looks good. I IMDBed the cast. Turned out she was a teen in the first 2001 movie. Charlie Theron seemed to be around since I was in diapers but she still looks surprisingly good.

A lot of people dislike the franchise, as its not sofisticated with cheesy story, rediculous physics defined action sequence and even more cheesy Characters. But it’s fun, aescapism movie that let us can disconnect from IRL.

Also it managed to evolve that allow the brand to be still super popular. I a lot of people complaining why it wasn’t about street driving or even driving. but it’s 2021, JDM and street racing ( insert vtec memes) are not cool today. If the movies were still street racing, it probably would have dead now.

Vin Diesel carried the franchise well. Great leading man. Pity his acting skills( he is pretty good) was not used much in most of the fast & furious movie, but you do not watch F&F for the acting.

It's a great movie, you should give it a rewatch, still holds up. Good cast, good acting, great direction from Cronenberg, and a great soundtrack too.

I was giving The Big Short another watch. For a movie on the market crash of 08’ it’s really entertaining and has a great cast. If you’ve never seen it highly recommend giving it a watch.

Brute Force - Late '40's prison break movie starring Burt Lancaster. I liked it.
Blackhat - Not a good Michael Mann film, had a few cool moments though.
American Ultra - I enjoyed the first third or so, but the writing and direction were ultimately too messy for my tastes.
Firestarter - Even an incredible cast couldn't make this King movie work. This has NOT aged well.
Nightmare Alley - Late '40's noir about carnies, really well done. Looking forward to Guillermo del Toro's remake.
