So, I figured a lot of us watch shows that don't really generate enough discussion for a stand alone thread, and figured we need a place to rate, discuss, and generally chat about any and all Shows.

So, what did you just watch ?

I just watched the pilot of Master of sex. Was kind of interesting. It focuses on a scientist and his assistant in the 50's. who are exploring the effects that sex has on the human body. Stars the fantastic Michael Sheen and the lovely Lizzy Caplan.

I enjoyed it. Obviously it is a bit early to draw any major conclusions, but the acting is great. The writing seems to be very solid. Is one I will continue to watch.

I've been watching "Lie to Me" on Netflix. Good cast, headed up by Tim Roth, who is really interesting to watch. It's a crime drama. I don't normally go for crime dramas, but I've been on a spree lately, starting with "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" episodes with Det. Goren (Vincent D'Onofrio), which Bunz was kind of enough to recommend. Both of these guys play interesting characters, geniuses with more than a few personality issues.

In Roth's case (Lie to Me), he's a deception expert, and the show includes a fair amount of psychology. Roth's character, Cal Lightman, has a criminal background and antisocial flair that Roth brings to life well. Some of the material can be a little far-fetched, but it's easy to suspend disbelief and just go along for the ride, which is usually pretty entertaining. There is an interesting cast of characters, with a nice interplay.

I heard something recently about TV presenting us with just as, or even more fleshed-out and interesting characters as movies do, and I think that's true. I've always loved interesting, well-written characters -- in books, in movies, on TV, even in games, that is often one of the first things I connect (or don't connect with). I'm surprised at how good TV is getting in this area. Twenty years ago, it was pretty much just two-dimensional stereotypes (sort of where games are now). It's come a long way.

I'm watching Wilfred for my comedy fix lately. It's a strange little show, very unique. I assume people know about that one, so I won't go into detail. Man in dog suit plays hallucinated dog ... hijinks ensue.

Shows I've been watching on TV:
  1. Dexter
  2. American Ninja Warrior
  3. Under the Dome

I've also been going through all of Stargate Atlantis on Amazon instant video. About half way through season 3 at the moment. That show just gets better and better.

I liked Lie To Me. Shame it got cut short.

I have been watching Weeds on Netflix. Enjoying it quite a bit.

I'm finishing up season five of Sons of Anarchy. I'm surprised at how much I like the show. I'm DVR'ing season six so I don't have to wait for it.

I've been watching Community over the last month or so with my girlfriend. On season 3 right now, little over halfway done. I've heard the fourth season kind of blows though so hopefully it gets better when Harmon comes back for season 5

It's an extremely creative series and I really enjoyed it. Last season was OK. Not their best but certainly doesn't blow.

Been watching Breaking Bad about to start season 5 great f'in show!

About to start the last season of Fringe, loved the show looking forward to there next Almost Human.

I really enjoyed that show for 3 and some seasons. Some where in season 4 I just lost interest.

It just had it's mid-season break finale thingy, but I really enjoyed the latest series of Suits. One of my favourite shows on TV at the moment. Also watched the first series of Under the Dome. It's pretty cheesy and silly but pretty enjoyable over all. There's a few shows I really love starting back up this month including Person of Interest and Elementary, very much looking forward to them.

I LOVE Person of Interest. I think it's one of the best network (non cable) shows on TV right now. I tried watching the pilot of Elementary but it just seemed to convenient and basic and procedural-ish for me.

I'm going to recommend something I haven't even seen yet!
BBC's Peaky Blinders looks great, it's about 1920's gangsters in Birmingham, a British Boardwalk Empire you could say.

I enjoyed the two seasons of Sherlock that I watched on Netflix. I'm talking about the recent British series, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman (who I remember from the British version of "The Office"). It is a detective show with a warped genius for a lead. I seem to be watching a lot of those lately.

I just couldn't get in to that one, but I did enjoy Elementary with Lucy Liu and Jonny Lee Miller.

Breaking Bad of course. Dexter just to see how it ends, should have ended awhile ago.
Boardwalk Empire, Under The Dome.

Not saw it mentioned but I think Hannibal deserves a shout. I think it is one of the best tv shows I have seen. Mads and Hugh are great.

I watch way too much television but there are a lot of good things to watch. A lot of shows I watch/watched have already been mentioned so thought I'd mention a few that haven't been mentioned yet. "The Killing" was quite good, I have only seen what was available on Netflix and haven't seen the most recent season. "House of Cards" was amazing and Netflix newest original series "Orange is the New Black" is also amazing. The most recent show I've watched is "Longmire" which is a western/crime drama and I actually liked that a lot more than I expected. Oh, "Hemlock Grove" is another Netflix series that I thought was really good.

I'll have to check out some of the series you and others are mentioning. Like you, I watch too much TV, but part of that is because it's gotten so much better in the last decade. I don't feel like I'm (entirely) wasting my time anymore.

I agree, "Longmire" was pretty good. There was only one season on Netflix, so I hope there is more. My only gripe was that between Walt Longmire and the Lou Diamond Philips character, there was an awful lot of "strong, silent type" stuff going on. I guess that's part of the Western mystique, though.

I keep hearing good things about "House of Cards," but it's hard for me to get into political dramas. I'll have to give it a shot, though.

Currently watching:
Dexter - Still enjoying the series but I guess it's time to end it
Low Winter Sun - Ok so far
Brooklyn 99 - Pilot was pretty good so I'll watch a couple more

Soon:
Arrow
Elementary
Homeland
Walking Dead
Shield (at least to check it out)

Probably missing some that will be coming back soon but otherwise I try not to watch too many shows. Good to see Longmire on others' lists as I really enjoyed that one. I also watched Hell on Wheels but since they moved it to Saturday nights I haven't bothered. I missed the third episode and they don't have many replays so I said to hell with it. Good show but I've got better things to do Saturday nights.

I really don't watch TV anymore. The only shows I ever watch is The League and Sunny. Both are great.

Would like to watch those unfortunately FXX is still under the Sports and News tier for Mediacom. Not going to spend $10 a month for those two shows.
