Got one pre-ordered but I'm struggling trying to figure out what feature I am most looking forward to. From what I know right now I guess it would be if most multi-plats play better on it then being able to have possibly the best version sits well like it did on 360 last gen. PSN+ sounds good too especially if they start adding remade versions of past PS3 exclusives.

What's your favorite PS4 feature?

Price first and foremost. Oh and the fact that I don’t have to hear my daughter scream downstairs “Dad can you find me one of those 48-hr. Xbox Live trial cards so I can watch Netflix”.

$400.00. Followed by the redesigned DS4. (I think anyway--I haven't held it.)

Sony's stable of developers.

Ditto.

I also like Sony's attitude toward developers and games in general. It seems open-minded, welcoming of new and creative approaches. I feel like I'm going to get a wide variety of games to choose from.

The price and the high possibility of great PS3 exclusive sequels coming to the PS4.

It's new. It's shiny (kinda). And guarantees at least one more generation will offer us retail boxed content that I can collect and love, my precious.

I know its not a feature per se but everything just seems better across the board from the PS3. For example, DS4 in everything i have read is considered greatly improved. The dash looks smoother and frankly better looking. The ability to record game-play is nice. The PlayStation app to work like a second screen is a plus. The social aspects will be a big deal to some. I am a big fan of the exclusive games they produce. If Gaikai works like they say, that could actually be the big deal. That could open a window of tons of games early in the systems life-cycle. So my feature is really just feeling it is better from A to Z from the current gen.

Post this question again in 6 weeks, and i'll have a narrowed down answer for you:)

When I originally heard about all the cool things the PS4 could do, I did hear one cool thing, but haven't heard it since.

I heard on the PS4 at anytime you can be playing a game and if you get stuck playing a single player game a friend can join you and pass the level for you. That sounded cool at the time, but haven't heard anything at all about it since and wondering if it's still there.

Also Gaikai would be pretty cool to be able to stream older PS1, PS2 and PS3 games and play them on PS4 but not sure when it'c going to be available world wide. Also remote play with the Vita could be cool, or just to see what else they can do with the Vita and PS4. And one last thing, the touch pad MIGHT BE COOL if developers can use it properly.

I remember hearing about that too, and yeah nothing about it has been heard since. Hope it is still a launch feature and not one of the ones that companies say will happen and then gets forgotten and never shows up. However that is possible, it is pretty cool, something I think more people should be talking about.

For features, the number one thing, is save-state. :)
The fact that it keeps power to memory-chips, and keeps the content with shutdown, is something I've allways wanted since I got it on handhelds. :)
Shut down no matter where - don't have to worry about a checkpoints, and continue next day from same point <10 seconds the next day.
The number two feature is Playgo, play & download at the same time, has been great on a few PC-games wich had it.. Will be welcome to get this on a regular basis.
The number three, is with share/broadcast feature it will be interesting to see hwho uses it to it's advantage - if you want to look for less known games, more youtube-streamers and similar should have them available.
I also see potential for indies and similar to provide better coverage of upcoming titles, even tough the big website don't cover them.
i.e. much like we saw on TGS with Deep Down, a small indie can for example. a week before the release go on various forums, and tell they will have a stream of gameplay from a level one day. :)

That's pretty cool. I haven't heard much talk about this. One of my pet peeves is a game that forces long journeys between checkpoints, forcing me to continue playing when I don't feel like it, just to reach the save point. I have skipped games, just because of that. This would essentially be a "save anywhere" function. Nice.

I like the fact that it's a machine based on games not a bucnh of TV crap that I could care a less about......I don't have cable and have 3 other devices that already get me the TV I want without any kind of subscription.

Of yea a 100$ cheaper doesn't hurt much either, if Microsoft could get price parity I could be MAYBE swayed back to getting an X1 at launch.

That it plays next gen games , my favorite feature also on the xbox one. I don't care about cameras, voice commands, tv related crap, social apps, fitness apps or any non-gaming stuff.

I'm such a geek. I am interested in that PlayStation is basically running on a version of Unix or a modified FreeBSD.

I'm curious to see a *Nix system pitted directly against Microsoft in the game market.

I think that depends on Gaikai, which they are being pretty quiet about.

Btw, here's a mega-thread on the PS4, with all kinds of info:

The games and cheaper price helps as well, as I'll still mostly game on my PC.

I'm not sure yet until I get both consoles home and compare features.

But for now, price and stable of developers. Can't wait to see Naughty God's first effort.

I have to echo Anderson's thought about Sony taking risks with different types of genres and concepts. Microsoft seems a bit more open about this so far. Hopefully they keep bringing in new people with new ideas.

Ability to listen to game audio using headphones plugged into the controller.

Oh, that's a nice feature. I didn't realize it had that. There are times I'd like to play with the sound up, but I don't want to disturb others in the house. I don't have a set of wireless headphones, only the wired kind, so I'd just end up keeping the sound down, which probably decreased my immersion.

The price point is the single most important feature, follow by supposedly better spec. If I get the PS4, these 2 are the main factors. As far as exclusive, I think it depends on what type of games you are looking for. Its very personal.

Negative for me is extra cost of PSN, if I also keep my xboxlive account, & someone mention the controller holding grips look like a certain human anatomy part, & I cannot get it off my mind.

Jesus, why they have to look like thumbs.

Huh? I don't get it. What do they look like to you?

That sure is a big asss thread :).

A lot of good information there if you want to spend hrs and hrs reading through it all :)
It showed some nice pictures of the PS4 controller and to me I really like the blue light bar, it makes it look nice and I think it's definitely a plus not a negative for me.

Read that thread that Anderson posted all about PS4, there are definitely a lot more pluses then you posted above and so many people forget about many of the features the PS4 can do since Sony only really talks about games most of the time.

The rubber grip parts on the DS4 are good. I tried a controller with a rubber grip sleeve and it felt great. So I'll assume it's the same. Not sure how good the texture holds up over time though.
