Who believes in Ghosts?

When I lived in north Carolina I worked HVAC. We were at a Elementary school wrapping up for the day. My duty was to check all the rooms we'd worked in and collect any tools and ladders.

Long story short - last hall in the school. Long, and curved. Like half of a circle. I'm walking and I hear high heels behind me. I stop. Listen. Nothing.

I start walking again. High heels walking behind. I stop. Turn around and I hear the high heels leave the hallway I was occupying.

Another instance: my girlfriend at the time had bought me a super nice keyboard for my birthday. Anyway, I'm home after school. I jump on the keyboard - had been thinking about it all day. I begin playing. Learning to create by ear.

I start playing and find this melody in my tinkering. I begin working it. I s*** you not; I feel this presence enter the room behind me. It sits on our bed - listening. I never turned around and kept playing. But I know it was there. My girl wouldn't be home for a few hours yet. When I stopped playing, it got up, and left. I felt it leave.

Another time before that, I'm at my pad. I'm hot on this script - deep diving. I was in college at the time for video production and creative writing.

Anyway, I'll never forget the line of dialogue I was writing when I looked down at my fingertips. No bulls***: all ten of them were covered in blood. The line of dialogue I was writing said, "Jesus, Mary and Joseph! "

I was checking my nose, thinking maybe I'd been picking it too hard or some s***. Nothing.. I couldn't explain it. I don't even remember picking my fuking nose to begin with. And certainly not with every finger on my hands.

I figured it happened for one of two reasons:

1)For the line of dialogue I'd written.
2)There's a saying that goes, "write until your fingers bleed. " Well, I definitely had done that.

Do I believe in Ghosts? I do. But I inherently know not to fear them.

Thanks for sharing. The "presence" story (while playing music) sounds believable to me. That last story is pretty strange, the one with blood your fingertips. Not sure what to make of that. Very weird.

I agree that most ghosts are not harmful. Reports of them pushing or hurting people are pretty rare. I have heard a few, though (e.g., the Ghost Hunters clip of the sound guy being knocked down).

p.s. Actually I do believe there are low-level spirits that can attach to people sometimes and amplify their misery. They aren't demons, just disembodied people stuck at very low levels of development. So an ex-addict might hang around a bar, for instance, and draw energy from one of the patrons.

LOL at the proof of Ghosts

We have as much proof that ghosts exist as we do that you're a real person. You honestly think that everything you see on Ghost Hunters is faked or just some coincidence. I believe they fake some stuff, or play it up when they don't get enough activity but not all of it. No chance in hell.

Where is your proof?

No matter what pics, videos, personal stories people post it will not change your mind. So why should they even waste their time?

The fact is there is no facts proving Ghosts are real... Humans with pics, video, and word of mouth have proven time & time again that they are untrustworthy

My dad and his two sisters grew up in a haunted house for a little while when they were young. My grandmother had a lot of weird stories from when they lived there. She loved to read she would hear doors open and shut and people walking through the house when no one was home. She was the type of person that it didn’t bother her or freak her out. You calling my family a liar?

That’s the thing about ghosts. Everyone probably knows someone or a family member that have experienced something they can’t explain. The oldest paranormal thing going back in history. I’m sure everyone just made it up though....

The human mind can play all kinds of tricks, and we piece togeather the unexplained to pass it off as a ghostly event

This is what I believe https://www.quora.com/How-was-Ghost-Adventures-exposed-as-a-fake-show

Not "proving," no, but there is a lot of evidence.

You only need 1 good piece of evidence (because one is enough to make the case that there is a spirit world, an afterlife, etc). And we've got hundreds, thousands maybe.

You're just not aware of it. Or you dismiss it all as fake or explainable by normal means.

I think your level of denial just sounds like ignorance to me.

I disagree with that. Most ghosts are not demons; they are human spirits, just stuck near our dimension, for whatever reason. Reports of demons seem pretty rare. Granted, I'm speaking from the point of view of the evidence I've seen/read, not the Bible.

Not to make this a bible discussion but if you believe the bible then you also know Jesus called out demons. And it references the dead as being asleep. When Lazarus was rose from the dead he was asked what he had been doing and he said "sleeping". And then finally all the dead who believe in Christ rise up on his return, 1 Thess 4:16 "For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the Christians who have died will rise from their graves." Nobody but Jesus and the angels are in heaven right now, people of earth are waiting for his return (and those who died are asleep). Taking a nap...not walking about wearing white sheets or pushing books off tables.

Somewhat related to this topic but I have had experience a sleeping paralysis a few times, you know not able to move or speak while falling asleep or upon waking. When I first had it, it was a frightening experience. It felt like someone was pressing down my chest or on top of me. I heard noises (people talking, footsteps, cricket chirping, etc.) as well but I just assumed it was the TV. Not sure what to think of it so I just ignored it and thought it was normal and stress. The weird part is that it only seems to happen to me if I sleep at someone's bed and my body is laying down flat, legs straight.

I've had a semi-lucid sleep paralysis experience. Trying to look at a shadowy thing directly. Can't do it. Why can't I turn to look at it? Because this is dream bulls***.

This shadow is bulls***. This is a bulls*** dream. I have to get up and go to work so f***off.

I watch so many insane cult horror films it doesn't phase me much anymore I guess.

I do think there are things we can feel that are unexplainable. Whether or not it’s electrical fields, unknown physical abilities, alternate dimensions poking through, we’re in a simulation, I don’t know.

Elon Musk much...

Simple fact is, if tyey were real it wouldn't be so hard to provide tangible evidence of their existance. Samething for God/Jesus and Aliens visiting our planet. Decades upon decades of supposed "experiences" and "encounters" and not single piece of unrefutable evidence.

What's next? Meeting the Wizard of Oz at a well known and busy gay glory hole.

There's plenty of evidence. Mainstream science just won't look at it. Doesn't fit the materialist paradigm. Science is a culture and operates with group-think and pressures to conform, like any other culture (see Thomas Kuhn, for instance). Scientists who try to study this area have their reputations ruined. Nevertheless, some of them do so anyhow, and they've accumulated an impressive body of evidence.

So the evidence is there, for anyone diligent and open-minded enough to do the work and find out for themselves. Trouble is, you have to do the work yourself, and most atheist/materialists are not motivated to do it. They are closed-minded about the issue and won't take the time. They just accept the prevailing dogma.

I'm a Christian, but I don't believe everything in the Bible is literal truth. If there is evidence that contradicts something, I'll generally go with the evidence. In this case, we've got plenty of evidence that when we die, we do not enter into a millennium-long stasis, but rather we transition immediately to a different sort of existence. The dead are alive and well and going about their business.

I'm violating my own policy about not getting involved in spiritual discussions on gaming forums. My experience has been that those discussions never turn out well. They get mired in arrogance, one-liner dismissals, and stuff that feels disrespectful and toxic to me. So I'm going to bow out. I've crossed my own line and need to pull back. Carry on.

It is a different discussion but still pertinent to this one as to what ghosts are (assuming they exist).

Ecclesiastes 9:5,6
Job 14:12-15
Daniel 12:2

Just a couple verses of many that clearly state the dead are not immediately risen (or walking the earth as ghosts). I wrestle with finding anything that truly contradicts these beliefs but it does require a much broader discussion than we could ever share here. It's not like believing the immediate sending off to heaven/hell isn't the most common belief Christians share today but few who take that stand ever have anything to back it up other than that's what the preacher/parent/teacher told me.

Ok so I haver never told this story before but it is 100% true.

At age 8 we moved from Seattle to Houston. Had been in the house about 6 months and it was a fairly new home at the time. I had my own room upstairs as did my younger brother and sister.

There was something about the house that bothered me but I chalked it up more to my fear of the dark and other childhood worries. Bumps and creaks mostly that I couldn't put a finger on where they were coming from. And my closet that I needed to be left open at night so I could see in it.

One day I was in my room playing by myself. Siblings were in their rooms and mom was downstairs doing something in the kitchen. I was sitting on my floor playing a game solo as I often did. Suddenly and without warning something picked me up and took me out my door, down the stairs (backwards as I was still in my sitting positon) and dropped me down onto the middle of our family room. This 100 foot journey took all of 4 or 5 seconds.

I sat there in total disbelief of what had happened. Surely I just imagined it or had a daydream but it was too real to shake off as anything other than a presence of some kind had done this to me.

Nothing like it ever happened again nor did I feel like the house was haunted on a full time basis. But I have never been able to explain it nor forget it either.

Must have been swamp gas.

Sleep paralysis is no joke.

Once i heard laughing while I was sleeping and opened my eyes to something zipping around above me in a cloud of smoke. It landed on my right arm and looked like a gnome or gremlin thing just laughing and it started punching my arm. It didn't hurt, just like a hard tap and it didn't feel malevolent more like mischievous. After a few seconds i manged to move my left arm and reached to grab it and it vanished in a puff of smoke.

Go Google The Dyatlov Pass Incedent. I'm a pretty big skeptic about all this stuff but that is one creepy story.

Wow, that's a lot of power, behind whatever did that. Were you hurt in any way? Or just shocked? Did you tell anyone?

Hypnogogic hallucinations are something people need to be aware of, as an alternative explanation for some 'ghost' accounts. I suspect that some of the accounts are attributable to this, particularly the ones that are reported as occurring while the person was in bed or sleeping.

If you happen to have an encounter with ghosts. Make sure to rebuke it in the name of Jesus Christ and see what happens. Most movies are giving the wrong information on how to rebuke ghosts/demons. They say " the power of christ compelles you". When your just supposed to say in the name of Jesus Christ go away or just be specific who are you referring to. If we aren't specific then the ghost won't leave.

" And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; " - mark 16:17

No other religious person/leader has claimed this statement before.

A small story from the bible how Jews were casting demons out of people. (Post cross)

Also how people were casting demons out of people that weren't the 12 apostles before the event of the cross using his name.
