Nintendo’s decision last year to start distributing free software development tools for the Wii U to indie developers in both Japan and overseas was perhaps the best decision the company could had taken, keeping in view the dismal sales of the Wii U.
The perception of the Wii U not having any games might be about to change in light of recent developments. Nintendo Enthusiast has compiled a comprehensive list of well over 250 indie titles that are either reaching their final development cycle or have been announced for a ‘possible’ release on Nintendo’s platform in the future.
The list contains titles covering an abundant of genres, including Action Adventure, 3D Platformer, Beat ‘Em up, Online Multiplayer, Puzzle-Based, Shoot ‘Em up, Racing, Strategy, Metroidvania, and more.
Recently 23 new titles were announced by more Wii U indie developers, which are the following:
  • Twisted Fusion
  • Hover: Revolt of Gamers
  • Upsider Down Dimensions
  • Prodigy
  • Superstick
  • Turtle Tale
  • Machete Brawl
  • Skullforge: The Hunt
  • Nero
  • Chubbins
  • Gears
  • Flying Hamster II
  • Blast Em Bunnies
  • Orbitor
  • Swords and Soldiers HD
  • Hex Heroes
  • EXE Oblivion
  • Served
  • Duelyst
  • Zoinkgames Untitled Game
  • Luftrausers
  • Jetgetters
Nintendo may be sluggish when it comes to its first-party titles, but the indie community is surely working on reviving the Wii U platform.

The coolest looking game to me is Flying Hamster 2. It looks like an early Genesis/Mega Drive game with HD art. Which is pretty awesome imo.

Nice. Golden age of the indies.

Here's a rundown of some upcoming Wii U adventure games. Skip to about 0:50 to get on with it.

Most of those look good to me. Wii U seems to be strong in this area.
