I just watched the full video of The Dark Sorcerer tech demo from last year's E3 by Quantic Dream. It was amazing and it was confirmed to be running @ 1080p in realtime.

Do you guys think QD will be able to match the graphical fidelity in their next game for the PS4? I personally think they'll be able to match it or almost hit it from what I've seen from their PS3 titles. What do you think?

For those who haven't seen the full Dark Sorcerer video yet, here it is:

The demo was only "okay" looking. There is still a lot of artifacts rearing their head in their demo that make it only seem like a half-gen leap over last generation's hardware.

I thought the faces and facial expressions were very impressive, very lifelike. That's the thing that impresses me most about Beyond, too, which I'm playing through now -- how well they capture the human face and facial expressions, which are so key to conveying a character's state of mind. Looking foward to seeing what they can do with their next game.

I like that they seem to be stepping into humorous territory. Cage's games are always so earnest and grim. He needs to lighten up.

I have faith in QD to make great looking games. Think I'd put them at the top for exclusives.

A game is not going to look like unless it is nothing more than an interactive movie. So with QD games, well actually maybe?

Yeah with that style of gameplay it's possible.

What would be cool is if we could get that level of visual fidelity with Cage's typical gameplay mechanics, but that they would use Morpheous to really immerse you into the scenes. The gameplay in his games bore me. But VR could get me excited.

yes just like i said in the gaf thread

I'm wondering why Cage doesn't just film his games, instead of try so hard for photorealism. Seems like it would be a more direct route. Might not work so well with The Scorcerer, but as I'm looking at all the effort he put into re-creating Ellen Page in Beyond, I'm wondering, "Why didn't you just film Ellen Page?"

Because he wanted Ellen Page's illegitimate nude body in the director's cut. ;)

Their original heavy rain demo looks quite ugly compared to beyond, now. maybe they are just better at tech now and that comparison isn't fair but I still think we have yet to see a game really take advantage of PS4. Maybe this Fall we will have a good indication where games are heading.

Good point.

I was thinking that the Dr. Molina demo wasn't matched or beat. But it was based on looking at that demo and David Cage's games.

As long as I get a mystery story like Heavy Rain with Beyond like graphics, that would be awesome. Beyond had a great character development story as well though.

Sony really failed Beyond's release, it would have sold just as well as a PS4 launch only title. Would have been fine to have the same visuals at 1080p/60fps as well, would still look amazing compared to other ps4 titles.

To answer you question, no I don't think they will match what was seen in Dark Sorcerer. I honestly don't think that they are going to get close.

Considering the game will hardly require input from the player. Probably.

Every time you hear a dev say " this game is running in engine" at E3, that pretty much means its running on a high powered PC and wont look as good on consoles. Ive learned this through the years, and its something I pay attention to closely. Sorcerer was one of those game last year where I immediately thought about the BS Killzone 2 footage Sony first showed.

Yes but this was confirmed to be running in realtime by the dev.

yup. Exactly.
