Windows 11 - Free Update, But Is Your PC Worthy? BUT WAIT There’s A WORKAROUND

Anyone updated to Win 11 and have any feedback relative to Win 10 Pro?

I finally see the option in Windows update and seeing if it's worth or just wait it out.
Coming from Windows 10 pro here. Just updated a few weeks ago. It's technically an updated Windows 10 with additional features like Auto HDR and complete Directstorage support which will be huge for PC gaming. That said, the OS is more gaming oriented and Xbox Game Bar is actually useful in games.

The desktop isn't that different, but it takes some adjustments to get that Windows 10 appearance and feel. It took me a few days to get use to it. I was hesitant to go Windows 11, but I'm glad I made the jump. It's not perfect, but you'll feel right at home with it.

You notice any gaming performance drops with Win 11 vs Win 10? That was one of the things I read before saying the performance wasn't as good?

Haven't noticed at all. I've seen the benchmarks. Performance between the 2 operating systems is marginal.

I was honestly thinking of just pressing the upgrade button lol.

It doesn't work that way?
It does. If you run into any issues or just don't like Windows 11 it gives you the option to revert to Windows 10.

Yup. They all worked for me when I upgraded. I did a fresh reinstall of Windows 11 not long after. But that's just me.

Just updated. Everything seems to be working well with no hitches so far. Except windows security, apparently I need an app for that now ? lol

In the taskbar when I click on Windows Security, nothing pops up when I try to open it 🤔

Nvm. I googled and got a fix for it. Apparently had to reset the App Package or something.

It may be hard to believe, but the Windows 11 one year anniversary is fast approaching and the number of users adopting the newest operating system from Microsoft shows no signs of slowing down. In fact, the OS has just achieved a new gaming PC adoption milestone.

According to the Steam Hardware and Software Survey: August 2022, a quarter of the gaming PC population running a Microsoft operating system are now using Windows 11, 24.71% to be exact. Its share among Windows users grew by 2.94% this month, and it’s enjoying an impressive showing across the entirety of Valve’s platform too.

However, it still has a long way to go before it overtakes its predecessor, with Windows 10 occupying a comfortable 71.76% market share even after a 3.65% decline. Time is most certainly on the side of Windows 11 though, as the dominant operating system only has another three years ahead of it before Microsoft ends support for it.

The impending Windows 11 update 22H2 could draw more users to the platform, but its features such as Auto HDR and DirectStorage that should more obviously benefit gamers.

Been running it on my gaming PC for a long time and zero drama. I'm getting a new work laptop soon and I'm throwing 11 on there to test.

Support for 10 ends in Oct 2025, so any PC expected to last 3 years should start to have 11 on it moving forward unless you want to run an upgrade.

Got a new work laptop and threw Win 11 on there. Was worried things like Oracle drivers would blow up (as they usually do). So far, so good. I don't know if I'd risk running an upgrade in place, but putting it as a clean install on a new system seems ok.

I am actually liking the interface the more I use it (I've had it on my gaming PC for a while now).

If you hate 11 and wish it looked more like older versions of Windows, this is really awesome for only $4.49.

I run it on my gaming PC and laptop and I can't say enough good things about it. They have a 30 day trial for it.

Nothing much that helps here... Xbox app servers are typically slower for sure compared to other platforms.
Really? I’ve kinda had the opposite, but nothing that Mayes me go “ugggghhhhh, why don’t I have Plainview Nervusbreakdown or Enemy like speeds?” Although I did have issues when both my XSX and PS5 were next to my reference monitors/speakers, that was my fault, I thought the shielding would’ve been better 😆

I had 1.5 gigabit internet but got nowhere those speeds at all. Fastest way like maybe 400-500mbit?

MS seems to continue the tradition of every alternating version sucks.

I want to upgrade but I am not sure it is worth the headache for windows 11

My gaming PC had no issues at all. The new laptop I bought last fall that I upgraded to 11 the first day I bought it...didn't go as smoothly. It had all sorts of weird driver conflicts that took days to sort out that affected the new security features of 11 and it kept my cpu at 100% constantly.
