I am mostly a Linux guy.
I only use WIndows for PC gaming, but Linux for the Web.

A buddy of mine uses Mint (online friend). I have tried Ubuntu on a USB key through Windows. At the time (not sure if it changed), it seemed very reliable, NOT bloated at all, fast and user friendly.I'm currently on Linux Mint which has come a long way with Driver support.
There is also Steam on Linux, but games tend to be crashy on it.

I don't like gaming on PC. I am a console guy.But gaming support isn't as good as Windows
Apparently my i9 9900KF 5.0ghz cpu, 2TB Samsung Evo Plus NVME SSD, 32GB Patriot Viper and RTX3080 isn't eligible...
Oh MS, why why why.
I Will Never Use a Microsoft Account to Log Into My Own PC | ExtremeTech
Windows 11 Home and Pro will now require both internet access and a Microsoft account in order to set up ...www.extremetech.com
Why are you giving this clicks? Haha.
Imagine having to have internet and a Microsoft account to use Windows......
"I have to have internet access? WTF?"
Then you just go to bed.
I suspect they'll back off.
I love Microsoft, but holy crap their PR department either doesn't even exist, or doesn't think it through.
Personally, selfishly, I hope they stick with it because apparently my PC is good. But they'll probably lighten up on the requirements just like.... oh digital only Xbox One, remember how that went? They did a 180 so fast, or Kinect....bye bye. Etc etc. MS always caves and gives up on everything. But their OS is obviously their bread and butter so maybe they'll come out with a Windows 11 "enterprise" version that is very strict, and a Windows 11 "home" edition for the general user.
That's my guess anyway.
High disagree here. I used a Mac exclusively up until about 2014, and its functionality isn't close to Windows still. Glad to be on Windows personally.Windows sucks. Go Mac.
You said you would be buying Xbox games for PC that appeal to you. Some MS games require a Microsoft Account, even when purchased on Steam.Internet I don't mind but forcing to have a microsoft account is annoying. I won't even use it for anything else.
I prefer the UI on the Mac, and my reliability experience. I do know that the MacOS is NO WHERE near as flexible and customizable as Windows. I also know that the Mac has like 1/1000th of the available apps. When I was a Microsoft MVP, I towed the company line HARD. Especially Office. But that all ended after I started using Mac.High disagree here. I used a Mac exclusively up until about 2014, and its functionality isn't close to Windows still. Glad to be on Windows personally.

The add below seems to agree…If people want to use Mac stuff at home, that's fine (horribly over-priced and can run way less stuff, but whatever). Bring it into the business world though and we're still going to laugh at you. Mac is still a nightmare to support in large quantities. For Windows, I have a bunch of built in tools to patch and maintain all my systems. For Mac? I gotta chase down each and every one.
I also love how they just decide to stop supporting any regular USB, knowing that tons of devices are still using it. Yet MS is still somehow the "evil empire".
Win10 is still going to be supported until at least Oct 2025. That's 4+ more years. It isn't like they are expecting everyone to jump on an upgrade by this fall.
They obviously don't expect every single person to jump on day 1. Any hardware that is 3-4 years old now is going to get replaced by the time the time comes.

At work I am using Microsoft Windows 10 on my two workstations. It's fine.
