So I just got my new pc recently and it came installed with Windows 8. It's not that hot for me to be honest. I can't even figure out how to downloads Windows 8 PC games like Project Spark. I'm considering buying Windows 7 because it just seems better in general going by my experience. Here's the thing though, while I think that, I can live with the negatives of Windows 8. Those Window 7 home packages are about $95 a pop. Would it be crazy for me to spend that money on a previous OS for convenience and ease of use or should I bit the bullet and maybe save that money for something else I might need, maybe even a future OS. Thoughts?

Maybe hold out for Windows 10.

Personally, I got off Microsoft and went with Linux.
I tried Linux, it's alright. Wasn't exactly wowed by it, but maybe I'm just used to windows. I'll probably just stick to Windows 8 for a while. We'll see. I just really like how 7 is essentially XP. Why mess with such a good thing MS?

Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for all Win 7 and 8/8.1 users.

I didn't feel like I was missing out when Windows rolled out that crazy Metro Desktop.

I'll admit Linux has a few quirks from not having wide usage with as much hardware support and games, but it's usually solid and I have virtually zero issues with Viruses.

Damn, when is that coming out?

I don't think they have a release date yet. My guess would be October this year.

Win 8 does have some annoying quirks, like the some system settings being in the Metro side and others on the desktop side. And the Charm bar.

Overall though once you get passed the quirks it does run better than 7 and any differences will make near as no difference.

Just remember to use the Windows key to go back and fourth between the Metro and Desktop. Windows Key + C will bring up the charm bar. And when you are on the Metro window just start typing to search. And actually if you search project spark from the Start menu and 'Everywhere' is selected, it will find it so you can download it.

Whoa, I gotta check out these hidden secrets. I was trying to find some kind of switch into a Windows 7 mode, but I couldn't find it.

You have to go to the windows store in windows 8 to download games like project spark. I can try to help you with questions with windows 8.1 as i have it on my surface pro 2 and after a little bit you will get used to the os. I say just take a few days to work with it and you will get the hang of it. I would say just stay in desktop mode most of the time and you can even set it to boot to desktop so you wont have to see the metro side of it. Also do you have windows 8.1? if you just have windows 8, go to the windows store and get windows 8.1 as its much better than just windows 8.

Windows 10 will be available later this year, right now they are doing a technical preview for it which it is pretty awesome but its still early right now as there are features not yet included in it.
Is it more like Windows 8, 7, or is it another complete rehaul?

I would say its a combo of both windows 7 and 8, the start menu is back but still has apps like in windows 8 and the windows store is like in windows 8. It is pretty good so far, i havent run into alot of bugs yet since its a technical preview and its to be expected. IT has been running flawlessly for me though which is nice.

Either way if you end up with Win 8 or 7 you can just use it till 10 comes out later in the year.
Win 10 is a return to the more 'classic' Windows experience and really is everything Windows 8 should have been.

I don't care for Win 8, but I wouldn't spend $95 just to stick with 7. Go with 10 when it comes out as others have said.

Windows 8 is garbage. Windows is garbage. OSX or GTFO.

Windows 8.1 ain't that bad once you install classic shell.
