PlayStation Now - DEAD
Google Stadia - DEAD
Amazon Luna - ALMOST DEAD

From the lawyer

——————

These were the third party cloud gaming providers mentioned by the CMA in the provisional findings:

- NVIDIA GFN
- Facebook Gaming
- Google Stadia
- PlayStation Now
- Nintendo Switch Online
- Shadow
- Amazon Luna
- Antstream Arcade
- Boosteroid
- Utomik
- Blacknut
- Gamestream
- Wiztivi

Maybe they‘ll try to get an agreement with Facebook and Amazon too? In any case, Facebook Gaming + Nintendo Switch Online were excluded because they were considered materially different to xCloud.

Whatever the case may be, pushing up the relevant customer benefits (RCB) numbers is probably one of the best strategies right now to try to make the behavioural remedies work for the CMA.

We’ll see if that’s enough.
They've already checked off a number of those boxes. Personally, I'm all for it. More exposure ultimate feeds more money into MS gaming as a whole.

The question is simple.

Post merger will Microsoft have a monopoly in the industry?

The answer is no. Not even close.

You don't have a monopoly when your competition has 70% marketshare ALREADY.

Simple logic is not so simple for alot of people including the CMA apparently.

"If the only argument is that Microsoft is going to withhold 'Call of Duty' from other platforms, and we've now entered into contracts that are going to bring this to many more devices and many more platforms, that is a pretty hard case to make to a court," Mr. Smith said. He said any decision on the deal would be subject to judicial review.

if you read any of the 9 responses to make it simpler, just read from Sony, 4J and the remaining market participants to get the gist of their pov.

I’m sure there’ll be plenty of videos and tweets, especially from those who chose to remain anonymous. And how recent contracts contradict some of Sonys comments. Which is kinda surprising since I’m sure MS and Sony have other contracts for other games and related stuff that would support it.

Stole this summary…

4J - positive general but they have worked with MS and basically said MS didn't pressure them on the games that they did work on re favouring MS platforms
B - short and sweet, no must have ip
C - MS is trustworthy, consolidation especially around cloud gaming is inevitable, Tencent competition (ownership of ABK shares and the asymmetric nature of the Chinese/Western markets)
D - hard to predict the outcomes but sees No impact on their business or their ability to distribute their games on xbox or other consoles.
E - PS sales stagnating and basically glowing of Xbox, bit weird one but ehh
F - supportive of the deal, basically thinks the arguments against the acquisition is exaggerated (small dig at Sony in there). Also says employees at ABK might be better under MS.

So let me get this straight:

- Only Sony and Google oppose, all others are for
- The acquisition not only doesn't make MS the dominant leader, they will still be either second or third place
- The acquisition ensures that for the next 10 years more people will have access to COD

Why is this even up for debate with the CMA, especially when Sony has even greater market share in the UK compared to most of the rest of the world?
