I’m actually equally excited to see if they clean house at Blizzard and restore them to what they used to be. Was my favorite gaming company for two decades.
This may signal that Microsoft, is, indeed, exiting the console hardware market. They own everything. Now, they can just sit back and sell subscriptions to games, their online systems, and not have to bother with hardware. Next Xbox will be the last.

So…. They’d bring game pass to other platforms you’re saying?

I don’t know if this is the case. Hard to say though, as GP is still honestly in its infancy.

Exactly. The way Activision/Blizzard have been run recently is just awful, and the recent allegations are just a small part of that. Overwatch 2 is basically in dev hell for no good reason (basically the same game). Who knows if/when we'll ever see a Diablo game.

COD gets tons of resources and yet still feels "mailed in" year to year.

GP will go to every platform within five years.

Microsoft has always wanted. Pretty sure Phil Spencer implied he was turned down by Sony and Nintendo.

Sony really has no choice but to allow it at some point.

Hot damn. Microsoft is not playing any games. Almost a 70 Billion dollar purchases and no leaks or rumors on it. At this point, EVERY publisher and studio is fair game for a acquisition. s***.

Square Enix is a legit possibility now. If I were Sony I'd start making exclusive deals NOW.

Microsoft in the past few years has bought 2 of the top 10 publishers in Activizion and Bethesda. That is unheard of.

I was always nervous about what could happen if MS ever realized that they are the biggest player in the game and started pushing their weight around. This is the result.

I am not the biggest fan of this for a few reasons but as news this is huge.

Phil said they would have to look at how they work with them going forward after all the negative press so they just bought them to get rid of all the bad eggs

Exclusive deals aren't going to save them. They would need to make bigger purchases.

Well Sony has already acquired like two and three year exclusivity with their big game releases like forespoken and final fantasy.

but the fact that they are working with Xbox/the-initiative in developing a game could be hints at something else, something big down the road?

Again before this purchase I'd say not likely but now, who knows.

Buy SEGA next and give us a real Shenmue III you cowards!!
Given MS and Sega's current relationship, we might see this headline next year.
