This really is some serious 'holy s***!' news.

Confused Wait What GIF

MS has double and now tripled down on their future of gaming as they are the biggest publisher on the planet now. Just WOW..... it'll be interesting to see how this affects the landscape of gaming in the future to come.

I think they might start to getting issues around building a monopoly before this deal is completed.

Microsoft has always wanted. Pretty sure Phil Spencer implied he was turned down by Sony and Nintendo.

Sony really has no choice but to allow it at some point.
And I truly believe essentially forcing the hand was MS plan the whole time. This move backs that.

Even though the backwards compatible and FPS boost teams supposedly already moved on, I hope at some point we get a big group of Activision / Blizzard game updates like we did for Bethesda titles.

The real get here is bringing the non console games exclusively to Xbox. Imagine when StarCraft and WoW come to Xbox game pass exclusively. All the other games will stay multi platform, but there are some big ones that can be exclusive.

Holy sh!t, this is insane. Perhaps MSFT wanted to beat Tencent to the purchase, another giant buying up as much as they can.

I wonder what this means for Call of Duty. I haven't purchased one of those games since Ghosts but the franchise still makes a lot of money so going exclusive would leave a lot of money on the table. But Gamepass is a priority so who knows what MSFT will do. And Blizzard, are they going back to their roots? So many questions about the future.

I can legit see Sega, Capcom or Square Enix being acquired by someone now.

I don't see a monopoly issue yet. Now if they put in a bid for Nintendo or heaven help us the PlayStation division, THEN MS will be in monopoly territory.

I doubt COD and Overwatch stay multiplat. We went through this song and dance after the Bethesda acquisition. MS didn't buy Acti/Blizzard to share the games. So unless Sony and Nintendo open up their walled garden and let gamepass exists on other consoles consider all the IPs they're acquiring exclusive to Xbox and PC.

Would they actually make a multiplatform goliath like CoD exclusive? I mean. Words can’t adequately express how absurd this is.

Glad I play on both platforms at this point, lol.

I'm shocked that anybody would think they would spend that much money just to NOT make COD an exclusive. This is REALLY bad.

If there isn't a monopoly issue it's only because delusional Sony fanboys still think they will get Call Of Duty next year.

Yeah I agree that its likely they will move to be exclusive. It will be a huge hit to Sony when it happens.

There was a rumour before the holidays of WoW being remastered for console.

I wonder, does this make MSFT the biggest publisher in NA or is EA?

Sheesh, I really though MSFT was done with large purchases like this for gaming. Sony is still in a great position but they better have a strategy to compete because in a few years the Xbox/PC games will come flowing in very frequently.

They made all Bethesda stuff exclusive. All these franchises and IPs will go the same route moving forward.

COD might be a while though, doesn't Sony hold the marketing rights to it?

Nah, they should restart the fire that was that space mmo (titan or something)and make it console exclusive, maybe work some halo in there lol

Crash Bandicoot & Crash Team Racing as well.
I’m ok if they never touch those franchises again.

W T F??

I just find out about this now and I am already 3 pages behind? I am at a total loss for words.

Now the question is which games will be exclusive and which will continue to be on PS platform

As everyone in the comments said, MS said the same thing about Bethesda. I'd wager that anything being released this year and next will be multiplatform. But once the deal actually closes in sometime in June 2023, I'd expect everything to become exclusive.
