Xbox Cloud Gaming - The App Formerly Known As XCloud

*edit to add below

The reason, an Apple spokesperson said on Thursday, is because Apple isn't able to review each game that's available through Game Pass.

"The App Store was created to be a safe and trusted place for customers to discover and download apps, and a great business opportunity for all developers," an Apple spokesperson told Business Insider. "Before they go on our store, all apps are reviewed against the same set of guidelines that are intended to protect customers and provide a fair and level playing field to developers."

Because Microsoft isn't submitting each game on its streaming service to Apple's review process, the app that enables access to those games is being blocked from publishing.

"Our customers enjoy great apps and games from millions of developers, and gaming services can absolutely launch on the App Store as long as they follow the same set of guidelines applicable to all developers, including submitting games individually for review, and appearing in charts and search," Apple said in a statement to Business Insider. "In addition to the App Store, developers can choose to reach all iPhone and iPad users over the web through Safari and other browsers on the App Store."

A similar service offered by Google, named Google Stadia, has also run into roadblocks with Apple's App Store guidelines. It's available on Android phones and tablets, but not Apple devices.

Given that Apple allows services like Netflix and Spotify without reviewing every piece of content, why not allow a similar service for gaming? The difference boils down to the medium, according to Apple: Games are interactive, unlike music and film, and there are consumer expectations baked into the App Store related to gaming.

No in-app payment through Apple's built-in services, for instance, and no App Store rating, among a variety of other things.

Ok, I tried Halo Collection ( good experience) CD3 ( really smooth) and Firza 4 ( kind of rough) over my 5G connection on my S20. Pretty cool overall.

Since my X appears to be f***ed. I can see myself playing this way until XSX launches.

I had so many bing points I ordered a Razr Kishi for 7$ off the MS store.

Thinking about getting this but a little confused about cloud streaming vs console streaming. Is xcloud just the cloud streaming option? Meaning can you do console streaming without paying for xcloud?

I'm most interested in the cloud steaming which I believe means you can play the game anywhere as long as you have internet, right? So if on Xbox game pass it says a game is cloud enabled does that mean cloud streaming? For example, Elder Scrolls Online is a game I'd love to be able to jump on when I'm not home on a trip or something. In Game Pass it says cloud enabled? So I can play anywhere?

This is another area I'm a little confused about. I thought the Razr Kishi looked really nice so was looking into it on Amazon. Saw one review that said it doesn't work for all games and it only has specific games it works for. Is this true?

My guess they were using it for normal mobile games. I can't imagine game pass games not working with it. I'll know in a few days.

xcloud let’s you play on any android device, at the moment, via gamepass ultimate. Pc and iOS will, eventually, come later...there’s talk that it will come to browsers as well but nothing has been mentioned yet, by then.

you could also stream games you own, on Xbox, to pc. I think you can to other devices, such as tablets...maybe iOS, as well, via a specific app. But I’m hazy on the details atm.

streaming from your console is for everyone long as you in your network.
streaming from the cloud is part of game pass ultimate on what games are from that service and can be played outside your network.

You know if eso can be streamed from the cloud?

yes because I played it last night.

also, I am looking for people to play that game.
Awesome, how's the input lag on the game?

I've been playing the game for at least 3 years now maybe more? I play off and on though so only like CP 650. But if I'm on I'm always down for some dungeons or something.

its getting used to not because of the input lag. I am the same way, I am off and on. Got to add me unless I have you already.

They’re taking it beyond the cloud :p

“The collaboration that we’re announcing today will allow us to work together to deliver new offerings for both the public and the private sector to deliver connectivity through Starlink for use on Azure,” SpaceX president and COO Gwynne Shotwell said in a video. “Where it makes sense, we will work with [Microsoft]: co-selling to our mutual customers, co-selling to new enterprise and future customers.”
