The last few releases didn't sell all that well and this has been their most profitable generation ever even if you remove the single player PC games. They will still put the MP stuff out on other platforms but I think the title of this thread is correct just not in the way the quoted article or OP thought it meant lol.

PlayStation is far more successful than xbox but it's not as expensive to run and they haven't conditioned their audience to not buy games. Xbox has nearly twice as many employees as PlayStation so it costs a lot more to keep it going. We'll see what the future holds, the industry is going to have to do something about cost control or they will all price themselves out of existence.

We can say Nintendo is doing it right but I don't think most of us want to play Nintendo style games all the time, there is a reason why so many people have moved on from Nintendo after we started there to the other consoles or PC. They need to find a way to make the kinds of games their audiences want at a level of fidelity that satisfies them without taking at least 5 years and hundreds of millions of dollars to do it.
Good god this PS fanboy always lying.

No surprise despite the few who champion MS marketing pivots, most prefer having exclusives on their platform.

Playstation latest exclusives haven't sold great period. From what I've gathered Ghost of Yotei sold less than the first game, which is alarming. The cost of porting it to pc can't be less than the sum they'll get from the sales. They're in panic mode right now since they sell less exclusives and consoles and they see how that went for Xbox... now they're hoping that not going multiplatform will save future console sales.
RIP Playstation

From a Xbox centric twitter account. Usually means Xbox fans would be voting, right?
I don't know what algorithm Twitter/X uses, but all sorts of gaming related sites can float. Not saying if the person is Xbox fan or not. Just saying, a social media poll is not conclusive to anything.

I know that's a joke post lol but just for people who don't know Ghost of Yotei has sold more copies in the same timeframe than Tsushima did and that's with a smaller installed base, they announced that during their last financial report. Tsushima also released during covid so that helped sales too.

Not conclusive but maybe indicative of people's interests and trends. Social media is a lot bigger than the small amount of posters here that's for sure so usually shows the market trend better.

And... PC players? Who would most likely want Xbox games coming to...PC?
You're such a troll lol

If I was solely a PC player I would have voted not in favour of Xbox getting exclusives because that would mean I would like PC to get access to them. So yeah that point helps, thanks. For the record, I didn't vote at all btw.

Sony never said it sold more copies. They left it open for interpretation. They said it did better in SALES. It could have sold more in REVENUE. The game was more expensive, as was the collectors edition (by a lot).

“exceeded the sales of the previous title in the same period of time” and “significantly” contributed to its latest results."

Dude, I'm not going to argue about Twitter polls. You can have it. I don't care. It's meaningless.

You know I said they were thinking about adjusting Game Pass, there's a very very very big discussion about the exclusivity stuff going on right now internally
I think they do recognise the value, you know, it's just what type of company do you want to be at the end of the day.
Do you want to be an ecosystem company first or do you want to be a publisher company first

You can't do both well, either the hardware operation will shrink to basically what Surface is now, a shadow of its former self, not its death bed, do you really want that for your Xbox brand which is the only consumer facing ecosystem which has any form of cloud with consumers, and Satya said in the leaked conversation with the staff Xbox have also value in the corporate side because when I meet with a lot of executives they don't want to talk about cloud, they want to talk about Xbox, they want to talk about Halo they want to talk about Xbox games, it's where you reach your consumers when they're not working, I think increasingly they recognise this.

But the discussions are ongoing because at the end of the day they leave money at the table and it's hard to fight against the spreadsheet
