Xbox One can read the HDMI signal from a PS4

Actually I was talking about the general ability to plug a PS4 into an Xbox, the fact people needed confirmation on it is head scratch worthy. The better question would be why WOULDN'T it work? MS already stated how HDMI In works so it doesn't take much to figure out hey...this would apply to PS4 or anything with HDMI out really. Unless Albert misspoke and it's still HDMI in or Xbox One and not concurrently.

If anything the real take away is you no longer have to switch between your HDMI In'ed device (Cable TV being the main selling point) and Xbox like they showed during the reveal, but rather you can you can use them side by side. Which means they've done some work on their OS and how it handles multiple applications of various size and nature.

I agree...yes it was obvious that the PS4 should work with the xbox one but it wasn't obvious that the PS4 could be played in snap mode while you play the xbox one at the same time. Thats what I took from what Albert said. Maybe I took what he said the wrong way but if you can play both at the same time in snap mode....this would be cool and is not old news.

You mean they didn't specifically code something to detect the PS4 to block it?

How was this even a question? lol

Why be a sarcastic jerk about it? Not everyone connects the dots as quickly as you... Is it really necessary to laugh at people, and be so dismissively condescending just because you know better?

I never understand people who just like being a jerk, making others feel inferior...

Edit: Back to ignore.

Show me a link or a thread where you or anybody thought you could play both games at the same time on the same screen or STFU.

Whoa calm down there my man. That type of comment isn't what we need on Union.

Ketto is a big boy and can handle himself....what we don't need is you pulling out a sentance from a whole conversation and starting some stuff that isn't there.

Again I think snap mode works for windows 8 and apps. I haven seen a TV and game at the same time. But then they added to the software.

He is pretty good that way, but he is not like that all the time.

This is what he says
"Any application can be snapped to a game... so if you wanted to be playing Ryse and Killzone at the same time, you could snap that," he said, as quoted by Gamespot.
I take this quote as you can play both games at the same time in snapp mode. If this is true it would be interesting if you could adjust how big of a screen the "snapped" APP part of the screen could be.

oh well there you go, you can snap both at the same time.
So this is prove the X1 is the Master and the PS4 is a slave machine.

Well, then I would ask MS to add multiple HDMI ins. Maybe one could:

TV HDMI in > Xbox One HDMI out

then

Xbox One HDMI in > A/V Receiver HDMI out

Then hook up PS4, Cable Box, Wii U, etc. to the A/V Receiver HDMI ins, requiring you to change the receiver input, but allowing you to switch between those on the snap?
This is the right answer. You can also use an HDMI switch and output that to the X1 if you don't have an HDMI switching receiver. I'll be hooking my 360 up just for Media Center since X1 doesn't support extender functionality.

Don't see the point in using power to run an extra device in between 2 others when there is absolutely no need for it.

"Yo Dawg! I heard you like games consoles. So I put a game console in your game console so you can game while you game."

It'll be weird to say, "Xbox, watch TV" to turn it to your PS4.

There will be too much latency going on with the pass through for action games, or actions in general. Unless that is changed, having another console playing while hooked up to the Xbox One will be kinda useless.

yeah, best to just run the two consoles into the TV on their own inputs

Where is the latency if it's just a pass through? Wouldn't the gaming console (in this case the PS4) be doing all the work, and the Xbox One is just displaying it on the TV? And if Microsoft says you can play Ryse and Killzone together, wouldn't that mean you can play Ryse and Killzone together?

This is just the first step. By next generation there will be no PS5; Sony will simply pay Microsoft to run their system as a VM on the next xbox.
