I went to a gamestop on Blackfriday to get BF4 on 360 for $25, and saw nearly every customer leave with an X1... And only a few had PS4's as they left. Now, obviously that doesn't speak to demand much, but it does potentially indicate we're building more unit than Sony, which is obviously a huge win right now.

Good stuff... I wonder how other stores and regions are looking..

This thread will end well and be full of civilized conversation.

Congrats to the X1 and MS in general though. Looks like the X1 will be just fine after all.

At least in my area it is a stock issue. Definitely a win for xbox, but doesn't say much about demand just yet. The futureshop here had no ps4s at all for Black Friday and roughly 50 xbox ones.

Sony just did their second launch. It wouldn't be surprising if that killed their stock flow into their initial launch countries.

Both are very good strategies IMO.

So, while there might be people buying an Xbox One because there aren't any PS4's for sale here, in those other countries that aren't getting an Xbox One launch until NEXT YEAR (months, I know but still), the same thing is happening there in Sony's favor though even more one-sided.

That's good news for MS. Happy for Xbox fans.

Meanwhile in Europe...

Saw this earlier this morning on GAF and it fizzled out pretty quickly and got locked after everyone looked at the data and realized that the article is literally based off of a survey of 3000 shoppers at one retailer (Target), of whom 0.4% bought an Xbox One. To put it another way, Flynn is declaring the Xbox One the winner of Black Friday based on the sale of a total of 12 (yes, twelve) Xbox's.

Yoyoniner: And 1.2% of 5,000 Walmart recipets sold Xbox One's.

It's just sort of how statistical estimates are measured.. certainly true that getting down into such low numbers has a margin for error but it would be considered good info by market analysts.

Puts it into perspective though.

Both did well at my store although we did already have someone trade in their PS4.

Just curious, what kind of trade in value would someone get for a PS4? I'm guessing I'm better off just selling mine on Craigslist or something... But just curious...

Based on eBay's sold listing, used PS4 is being bought at $550+. I suggest have it listed on craigslist for $500 OBO.

I live in Los Angeles, someone listed their used PS4 with 2 games on craigslist for $500, asked the seller if he would do $480 cash, and was told he sold it within an 1 hr after listing it.

Microsoft’s Xbox One was the most popular video game console on Black Friday, according to a survey of early shoppers by shopping market research firm InfoScout.

The Xbox One video game console dominated the rankings at Walmart and Target, coming in No. 1 with a 31 percent share even though it had the highest purchase price at $499. These rankings may not hold up, but they’re they earliest indicator in a console war that will go on for years to come.

The news isn’t entirely bad for Sony as sales were evidently constrained by limited availability of its new PlayStation 4, which launched on Nov. 15, one week ahead of the Xbox One. But it does suggest that Microsoft succeeded in preparing its supply chain for a torrent of sales.

At No. 2 was Microsoft’s older Xbox 360 console, which had a 30 percent share. The Xbox 360 sold for $180 at Target and at a door-buster price of $99 at Walmart. Meanwhile, Sony’s PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 tied for third with a 15 percent share each. The PS3 sold for $149 at Walmart and $199 at Target while the PS4 sold for $399 at both chains.

Nintendo’s Wii U console came in a distant fifth place with 6 percent market share. It sold for $299 at Walmart and $275 at Target while Nintendo’s older Wii console was sixth at 1 percent market share, selling for $99 at Walmart and $129 at Target.

Together, the Microsoft consoles had 61 percent of the market, and the next-generation consoles (the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One) had a total of 46 percent of the market.

Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Ghosts was the No. 1 selling game by a large margin, based on the chart from InfoScout. Of those who bought a console, 85 percent said they plan to purchase two or more video games during the holiday period.

About 80 percent of consumers said they purchased their machine as a gift, but 10 percent admitted they would likely open it up before Christmas. The survey was based on about 83,000 shopping receipts from about 3,000 people on Black Friday, which was about double the normal shopping trips that InfoScout tracks in a day. InfoScout’s mobile apps, Receipt Hog and Shoparoo, incentivize 125,000 Americans to submit pictures of their everyday shopping trips. The company processes this information and comes up with analyses within 24 hours of purchases.

Nothing wrong with starting this thread but the info doesn't really tell us much because we don't know what retailer allocation was, we also know that Sony has sold more consoles in the US to this point than MS has simply by their launch numbers for the US and Canada being around the same as MS's were for their 13 country launch. It also seems demand for the PS4 was higher in the countries in Europe they've just launched in than it was for the X1 as well. This is a global business after all so what happens here on one black friday doesn't mean a whole lot in the long run. As I've said before (as have many others) I expect them both to sell pretty much every machine they can make between now and Feb/March. Once the diehards buy their machines we'll see what happens.

Put up a new PS4 for $600, didn't sell.
Put it up for $575, didn't sell.
Put it up for $550, didn't sell.
Finally sold it to a friend for what I paid for it.

Now, trying to sell my used one for $500... Fingers crossed. There are a ton of them up there... New ones, for $500... Demand doesn't seem to be what the internet implies...

Are you BSing? New ps4 are being bought on eBay for $550 - $750 shipped on eBay. You gotta have some sort of feedback if you plan to sell it for more than $600.

18,000+ brand new ps4s sold within 2 weeks or so for $550+ http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=playstation 4 500gb new&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc

Anyway, I did a search on craigslist in my area (los angeles/orange county) and there's only 2-3 used PS4s for sale. Used Xbox one on the other hand has like 10-12 for sale.

I've been trolling on craigslist every few hours or so hoping to score a ps4 for under $400.

No, I'm trying for $500 - but with the looks of it, I'll be lucky to get what I paid for it... might just try to return it.

Also, your searches don't include "PS4" which is more common than "PlayStation 4", and when I do a search with PS4, I see about the same number of them as I see X1's - in your area.

All anecdotal, of course, but it's interesting. I had assumed with the way people talked up demand for the PS4 that I'd be able to get something more than I paid for it, but that's really not happening, it would seem...

Yeah I did that too. Only show up 2 more, that's why I put 2-3 ps4s (OC/LA). I don't count the bottom listings because those cities (inland empire) are 65+ miles away from Los Angeles. There is no way I am driving from downtown LA to redlands/chino for a PS4. That's like an 3 hr drive with traffic for me.

Wake me when there's official/reliable sales data or metrics before declaring anybody "won" anything. Also available stock, supply/demand, # of countries launched, size of market of those countries, sell through, blah blah. Flynn's anecdotes have already been dismissed.

Sony isn't going to announce sales for the countries it launched in minus the countries Xbox hasn't launched in btw. Just like MS isn't going to announce their NA-only sales. That's just how PR numbers work.

Flynn is an actual MS employee by his own admission and has been trolling the PS4 thread unprovoked, btw.
