Xbox One X

I take it it’s for the “re-release” version that came out a few days ago?

It's a re-release of Doom 3 BFG edition, so it includes Doom 3, RoE, and the lost chapters. On base consoles it's 1920x1080 and Native 4K on enhanced consoles.

Damn, when I think about it MSFT hasn’t done anything with the XBX. It’s as if the console was developed to make up for the extremely underpowered Xbox 1 and that’s it. After its completion they made no efforts to develop games to show how the “most powerful console” can truly perform. They sure fooled me but I will watch with skepticism next generation before putting down any money for their next console.

This generation has been kept afloat with Sony exclusives, Nintendo and third-party offerings. I can’t really think of anything major MSFT offered this generation. Maybe…….Game Pass. :really:

Are you taking the piss????

What did you expect? Your xbox to get up and start doing a tap dance? Sure they don't have the best exclusives to showcase the beast but is the best place to play third party games, some by a slim margin but most by quite a bit.

In saying that I hope MS gets their own god of war or horizon for next gen (can't think of any others atm)

No walking simulators though please.

Sony's exclusives are mostly overrated imo. I agree with Val on that.

Incredible production value in everything they do. But nothing really grabbed my attention for very long. Maybe I'm becoming jaded?

Last of Us 2 is the one I'm waiting for.

Haha, I'd love it if my X transformed into a dancing machine.

You're right about the X being the best place for third-party games. Its the reason most of my gaming has been done on the X since its release. I should appreciate that fact more.

I can see how some may think Sony exclusives are overrated especially from gamers who are heavily invested in multiplayer. But for a gamer like me who plays mostly single player games Sony's exclusives have been much appreciated. And I'm not the only one who thinks so since they sell so well and I believe had heavy impact on MSFT's decision to start to invest in studios and put out a statement that "single player games" are coming.

My post came from frustration from the lack of exclusives from MSFT and no real plan for the X. I had incorrectly thought they had something being developed in tandem with the X's development but I was wrong. Still, Gears 5 is coming out soon and it looks great. While I'm not as excited for it as I would be for something brand spanking new I am looking forward to seeing how the story and gameplay turns out. I can't wait to see what's been done for Horde Mode in Gears 5.

Totally get the frustration. Unfortunately, all of their bigger studios are clearly holding out for next gen releases.

There is of course Gears 5 coming, which looks amazing and judging by the beta, plays amazingly. It is quite a shame that's its not new IP tho, none of their bigger studios seem to be doing new stuff except maybe The Initiative. The Coalition are quite competent though, so I appreciate that much, outside of Gears devs and them Forza bros, nobody else seems to be earning their stay.

MS's plan has been next gen all along. They just didn't want to say it because it would have hurt them in the short run. The X1X was just to get them back on the map, which it did a great job of.

Sony has also had an amazing run of great exclusives. Can they keep that pace up? I hope so but it is no guarantee. They are likely to have some misses in there, because that's just how gaming goes. I hope Sony does keep up the pace and keeps pressure on, but expecting this to become the norm is likely going to set you up for disappointment.

Branded as a 4k console, playing games in native 4k, which it does most of the time (even high fidelity titles) instead of 900p as the S or pseudo 4k as the pro.
Not sure what people expected lol

I wouldn't say it does it most of the time. A lot of the games are dynamic res or are lower res and upscaled to 4K. Most of the time would refer to first party games.

If you include indie and ID@Xbox games, I suspect the majority run native 4K. Majority being greater than 50%.

Its not but it is the best we have and has excellent smoke and mirror tricks to achieve it and AMAZING Atmos in some games.

Come on guys, even the few titles that are dynamic res usually stays at full 4k most of the time. As said, majority (over 50% excl indies) are native 4k. The performance side is another story though, but it was never any talk about 60fps gaming from ms in regards to how they presented the console.

Could you provide some proof that most titles that use dynamic res stay at native 4k "most of the time"

Digital foundry, it's there, just read them all and you'll see I'm correct in my assessment.

I'd read most of them and most of them do not say that. Please provide several links please. Thank you.

The One X is the most powerful console on the market and will be until next fall but most of the 4K games are variable res, the majority are not native 4K at all times and that's totally fine, it's still punching above it's weight as consoles often do. BTW DF has been wrong on a couple of occasions labeling a game as native 4K and then another site will find that it's actually variable. They only do a small sample of the game they don't play through the whole thing so it's not an exact science anyway. Funny thing is that whenJohn Linneman from DF gets it wrong and it's pointed out he goes on resetera and whines about how people are being mean to him and how ugly he is, it's pathetic lol.
