Because it was a bit unclear to me. Maybe he just meant it as an example that when he goes to a studio and in this case Rare, they will be talking and showing him the unannounced game.

But then again, a year or two ago it was said they were working on multiple games I believe.

"It’s going through the process of preparing to unveil their next things, they have multiple projects in development and we feel really good about them." - Aaron Greenberg

Ah damn, Twisted Pixel. I loved S'plosion Man and I would have liked to see what was next for them. Even though Lococycle wasn't exactly great. The article says they were preparing to unveil multiple Rare, that sadly didn't happen. Maybe this E3 then? :)

By the way, has this been posted?

"Lots of places Fable can go. Nothing to announce right now though. "

If the report is true about Lionhead that they pitched a very awesome sounding Fable 4 before it became Legends, please just make that one now! They need developers for that though. Did everyone from Lionhead leave or did some stay at MS?

Good timing.

Playgrounds 2nd studio game...

Sounds like said open world non racer is based on an existing IP

Twisted Pixel is still around. They just went independent.

Man I wonder what that could be then. I hope they make it exclusively for Xbox, simply for the reason that they will use the hardware to its full potential and this developer knows their stuff. That's a new tweet? If they partner with MS again I wonder if E3 is the time to announce it.

I just read this about Fable 4 and it makes me extremely sad.

Fable series has a lot of places to go says Phil Spencer

After Microsoft closed down Fable developer Lionhead Studios and cancelled Fable Legends, many fans were left wondering what would happen to the franchise. We don't yet have a definitive answer, but Phil Spencer has said on Twitter that there are a lot of places the IP could go, suggesting that fans will get to see more Fable in the future. Spencer is known to frequently interact with Xbox fans on social media so when someone asked if we'd ever get to see Fable 4, his answer gave some hope for the series.

Though I wouldn't expect an announcement at this year's E3, Spencer's comments indicate that there are plans for the series going forward. The last Fable game to release was Fable Anniversary in 2014.

t looks like Fable might be revived in the future but given a new direction. Instead of a whimsical tone, the game should adopt a darker, more mature story. The franchise has always been known for its freedom—more so than other games in the genre—and coupling that with a poignant plot would elevate the experience.

Fable needs a reboot, and I agree it needs a darker & grittier tone without losing its humor.

Yeah but they had that darker Fable planned but MS said no and thought Legends was a better idea. Fable should always be singleplayer. The problem with Spencer saying that though is that he pretty much has said the same things about most of Rare's IP, Mech Assault, Crimson Skies etc. Hopefully we actually see the return of some of these IP.

Yup, would basically solve two of their problems. A need for a dark and gritty game and the need for a big exclusive RPG. We might even see theseekar return if it happens.

The previous years I always hyped myself up too much before E3 started and afterwards it was always somewhat of a disappointment. So this time I'm just keeping my expectations realistic and hope for one or two new game announcements. Not sure how much new stuff we realistically can be expecting. I guess it all depends on how much, if MS has been looking for studios, investing etc these past years.

One thing I really hope is that they can show one game that will amaze us in a visual way. That's what I always loved about Sony's shows, they have at least one "Holy s***" moment when showing a game. A game where the developer clearly shows they know the hardware in and out. Maybe Crackdown is that game. :)

Yep. The problem with E3 is that usually when a game was a surprise, we got a non-gameplay clip because it was so far off. Never cared about those types of unveilings. That's why I'm hoping Microsoft can hold off a year and start surprising with games that are far into development.

Really most focused on how Crackdown, Sea of Thieves, State of Decay, and Forza 5 look and play on Scorpio. Any real surprises beyond that would be gravy in my book...and unnecessary if there's nothing but a logo or non-gameplay clip.

As for Fable, Phil says a lot of things, and really he's just stating the obvious -- there are a lot of different options.

I don't have much faith in them, considering how they killed the series and shuttered the studio that made it. Of course Molynuts contributed to that, but most of it was MS's hyperventilating over "games as service." I enjoyed all the Fables and would like to see a SP Fable 4, but I doubt it'll happen, given MS's apparent direction. Maybe some SP/MP combo. Rare would probably be a good choice. Of course, Rare isn't quite Rare anymore. I'd bet their genetic structure got mutated working down in the Kinect mines for so long.

Where is Jackie Fhan when we need him??

I think I see him over at GAF, sometimes. Or maybe that's just his avatar. But the guy talks a little like he did.

For all the talk of no games, when gamers purchase a Scorpio this Fall, they can purchase with it:
  • Destiny 2
  • COD WWII
  • Red Dead Redemption 2
  • Assassin's Creed Egypt
  • Battlefront 2
To compliment:
  • Crackdown
  • Forza 7
  • State of Decay 2
  • Cuphead
I'm not even including the maybe's like Sea of Thieves or Splinter Cell.

IGN, Gamespot and Game Informer all recently did podcasts mentioning Scorpio and how they don't see the point in purchasing it due to the lack of games.

I'm not understanding "lack of games". There's 1000s of potential gaming hours in the 9 games I mentioned above alone. Western gamers generally don't care for Japanese relationship sims, anime or walking simulators so I'm not understanding the rhetoric.

Fear for 2018? Ok that I understand because we know very little for 2018. Western gamers will not be bored in 2017 though.

They are not talking about multiplatform games, they are talking exclusives. Once you grasp that fact it is easy to understand their subjective viewpoint.

Crackdown has no release date.
Splinter Cell is very unlikly.
Cuphead & State of Decay are low budget nich titles.
Forza 7 has competion.

Darksiders III gameplay

I ran through the first when it was GWG last month and am 12 hours into 2.

Really like the series so was glad to see the 3rd announced, the screenshots didn't look next gen, but the above video looks a lot better.

The combat looks very dull.

Since when does a game being exclusive make it more desirable to play to anyone other than list wars fanatics? Saying "there's nothing to play" because you're talking about exclusives makes no sense.

State of Decay and Cuphead are unique and two of my most anticipated games but to each their own.

It makes perfect sense because everything else is on the platform. It being more desirable to play or not is irrelevant. What is relevant is that exclusives are one of the big key differentiaters.

As for cuphead & State of Decay, I wasn't trying to diminish them. They just aren't the games that tend to sway people one way or another.I too am looking forward to State of Decay.

These big gaming sites tend to write their articles/talk gaming within the "console war" context.

To each their own. I can't get into anime stuff but that doesn't stop those from hitting list wars.

You still have to play Red Dead and Battlefront on something. If you're playing them on Scorpio, there's something to play on Scorpio. The fact that someone else is playing the game on PlayStation doesn't mean my experience should be diminished. It's silly logic.

Saw an ad for 33% off another year of XBL on the dashboard and had to jump at it. I guess what they said is true, you'll eventually get promos from Microsoft to keep your subscription. $40 instead of $60? Sold.

I hadn't thought of the possibility of a party game.

I didn't either until that picture. Makes sense though. It leverages all the Rare characters people have been wanting while fitting into their business strategy.

Something I've always wanted to see was a party game that came with the tools of Halo's Forge mode so that the community could make their own stuff. A Rare game with Rare's characters, world building tools and Azure physics could result in some crazy fun games.

Interesting..

Of course they put Banjo and Conker on there but the game will probably have nothing to do with them. They really like to mess with their fans. Like when Conker was in Project Spark and everyone thought it was a new Conker game.

I know some people liked the Viva Pinata games. But I hope their new game isn't that. I didn't care for those games at all.

What if at this years e3 we get a "stream you pc games to Xbox" announcement?

Or if they do, what say you if they lock that feature Xbox Karen?

Same. Can't see it happening. They were received ok but of all their IPs, would be an odd one to bring back. I'm thinking there will be a new IP using existing characters.

Only way I'll care about that is if it's a kart racer...

That could be fun especially with some track creators.
