Correct me if I'm wrong but a poster on NeoGAF called Matt, he's in the know about things going on at MS, Sony etc, isn't he?

In the Scorpio thread there he said this.

Hopefully he just doesn't know it right now, because I sure am expecting MS to deliver on that promise that they would show the same kind of dedication to first party as they did for improving Xbox as a platform and service. Such a thing takes time I'm sure, but man......

They definitely did make Xbox One great again but sadly that can't be said about actual new games. I'd like to thing that in his first years Phil has been busy trying to improve their first party input but we all know several things got canned and studios closed.

Matt might have knowledge of the hardware, but doesnt know Jack about MS lineup outside of the obvious (new Forza/Halo) the fact that there is silence unsettles them, because they have no clue.

Yeah Matt is a dev. Not a true insider on what MS is doing. No reason for devs, 1st or 3rd party, to get hold of leaks or inside intel regarding MSs plans. He's speaking towards recent history as evidence.

I think MS has already upped their investment. The question is whether or not we find this out this E3 or whether it'll be a year or two before these games can be shown off. I really think what's most important is Crackdown, State of Decay and Sea of Thieves are good. If MS can't turn it around in terms of running studios and projects, it won't matter how much they invest in new games.

I thought this was an interesting vid.It kinda reminds me of the story with Gears and how Epic's team had to fight with MS to keep the chainsaw bayonet in. Can you imagine..Gears without the chainsaw?

And then a "free" Bungie made Destiny.....yeahhhhhhh. They rushed that baby out the door.

I always thought HALO: Combat Evolved was awkward. Everyone called it HALO anyway.

Lionhead was a mixed bag. They could make quality games, but they seemed to burn through money at the end.

I agree that Microsoft should give developers more freedom over what should be made. I'd rather have creative control remain with the creators.

But as for SONY....they have shut down some studios. Their only first party racer for the PS4 so far, Driveclub, was meh and late and lied about rain being in the game. Rain was released much later after its launch and now the studio is no more. They canceled and then rushed out The Last Guardian with PS3 graphics, framerate issues, and frustrations with the AI. Game sales were disappointing in the end. They released the horrid No Man's Sky knowing full well how many lies were told and how bad it was. Pushed it right out the door. Knack was pretty lame. Gran Turismo Sport looks pretty bland and doesn't keep up with competition. The developer of Sunset Overdrive, Insomniac Games, said they left SONY exclusivity because SONY wouldn't let them own their own properties.

I thought the rose colored glasses assessment of their studios was amusing. SONY has different problems.

Less than two weeks and MS has their show. No leaks at all yet and I am very happy about that but at the same time I hope it's not an indication that MS won't have any new announcements.

not surprised considering last year's disaster of pre-show leaks.

Not even gonna give that video my click, click bait can f*** right off.

Reminds me of a video from GhostRobo, I thought he was better than that but he named the video something like....no more singleplayer for Microsoft/Xbox/Scorpio. Which is stupid as f***.

They didn't cancel TLG, they didn't make No Man's Sky, and Insomniac couldn't have been too upset as they are on their 2nd PS4 exclusive.

So I saw this post on NeoGAF and didn't think it was new thread worthy but still interesting.

Mentioned this somewhat in the E3 thread, but a new Banjo could be imminent. Tweets from Gregg Mayles, lead designer of Sea of Thieves, the Banjo games, Battletoads, and a whole lot more....

"I sit at home seeking rhymes that gel, what could be happening only time will tell"

"It's Sunday morning, early times,
I fancy writing a few more rhymes,
Their reveal gets a little nearer,
But their purpose not much clearer"

I say Banjo as the antagonist of the games (Gruntilda) always rhymes when she speaks (sans Banjo-Tooie).

Maybe it's related to SoT in some way, but it certainly sounds more like a different project imo. I'm cautiously optimistic regardless, but thinking we'll get an awesome new SoT trailer plus release date and then a trailer for Banjo releasing in 2018.

Didn't a good while back Phil or some from the house of X say that rate was working in two projects, one being SoT

Some people say it could have been a slip up. But yeah there might be a second team at Rare making something else.

I think Studio Gobo's team is making Banjo personally. Could be wrong.

Anyone else feel MS may/should hold an event after e3 to showcase their games and other 3rd party (i.e. Battle Front, the witcher, etc) that won't be in their booths, at e3?

Yes. They should hold X17 in september. With the release of Scorpio they actually have a lot of news to get gamers excited. A private media event after E3 would be good way to grab the attention and show more footage of first and third party games running on the new hardware.

need some help,

hooked 360 back up and went into save files to what I thought xfer to cloud so I could continue on Xbox one but no saves found. Do u have to do something specific?

Superb news. I can't wait to play that one. Been waiting for it ever since its first reveal.

By the way, I read that MS won't show VR at the Xbox show. I am goddamned happy about that.

Considering they specifically said there would be more info on MR/VR at E3 during their BUILD conference, I'd take what you read with a grain of salt, tbh...

And they didn't mean the PC show by any chance?

I can understand if they want to spend some time on it but not this year. Not when it isn't even really coming to Xbox until next year.

They might have, but I find it unlikely. If Scorpio will have VR/MR capability, I can't see them not showing it. I personally really hope so.

The thing with those demonstrations is that it's never really all that special. Sony's PSX show two years ago with VR really showed how bad and cringy it can be.

It's just odd how some articles claim VR won't be there but MR is also VR. Isn't it?

VR, AR, MR... it's all PR.

Don’t expect Xbox VR to be at E3 this year, or in stores this holiday.

Microsoft won’t have any form of virtual reality for the Xbox One or Xbox Scorpio at E3 this year as the company continues its focus on VR for computers, officials tell Polygon.

And when VR does arrive on an Xbox console, potentially still next year, it sounds like it will be wireless.

“Our primary focus is making our mixed reality experiences a success on Windows 10 PCs,” Alex Kipman, technical fellow at Microsoft, told Polygon today. “We believe that right now a Windows PC is the best platform for mixed reality as its open ecosystem and enormous installed base offer the best opportunity for developers, and Windows offers the most choices for consumers.

“Windows has been the birthplace of a variety of technologies, and we believe this will hold for mixed reality too. Given the efforts we have underway on Windows for mixed reality, and our belief that console VR should be wireless, right now we are focused on developing mixed reality experiences for the PC, not on the console.”

The company declined to comment on whether this would impact a 2018 release for VR on an Xbox platform.
