I just hope anaconda swallows Lockhart outta existence, the world doesn’t need confusion out the gate nor devs want to develop and it be limited by a weaker console...unless they’re up res ports of switch games but even then we don’t need/want that

I can accept a "dev" having something to say about performance/specs, but why on earth would they be privy to pricing? Usually a red flag for me.
Totally unbelievable, but still still fun! keep em coming, lol!

All these don't matter. What I am worried about is how Geoff from the VGA awards will spill the beans because he loves doing that just to get on up over everyone.

I'm really hoping the cheapo version sells poorly and sends a message that gamers want the best tech possible.

Maybe if its some really amazing surprise but think about when the X1X price was leaked. No reason to care about something like that being leaked.
Yeah, price leaks are great, because it's the least interesting thing for me. If it's a secret- it needs to be good.

Nice thorough article, makes some good points...but too much to post here:

The end of the article:

Looking Ahead
Since the Xbox brand’s inception, there have always been questions as to why Microsoft didn’t invest more heavily into it. That discussion will have to wait for another time, but over the past two years or so, it’s become very clear that the question no longer needs to be asked. From the promotion of Spencer and extensive hiring, to the investment we’ve seen across all areas of the brand, Microsoft seems to have finally realized the potential of the gaming market. It has been, and will likely continue to be, a sight to behold.

I’ve been studying the video game industry for over 30 years now, and I believe this is the most interesting time in its history (likely since the crash of 1983 and the introduction of the NES to the United States). We are witnessing the complete transformation of the largest entertainment industry in the world. It is remarkable and it has only just begun. The days of gaming being a niche or locked to a box in front of a TV are long behind us, and some of the largest companies in the world are now racing towards the future state at a record pace. And Xbox, now finally having Microsoft’s full backing, is in the driver’s seat.

There have been more than a few anonymous devs claiming that they have ps5 dev kits that are near 13 tflops
likely meaning ps5 will be a 12+ tflop machine. I fully believe Spencer when he said at 2018:e3 that next gen Xbox would be the benchmark in performance so I expect anaconda to at the very least match if not exceed the 12 + tflops that ps5 is probably gonna have. I just can't see Microsoft regaining the performance edge with the X only to let Sony overtake them next gen, anyways my two cents.

I suspect the only way Ms will have a tech edge is if it costs more. They will be neck and neck otherwise. Hardware costs what it costs.

Agreed. I just think MS is willing to spend more to have the edge on paper.

Losing the ‘power war’ at the start of last gen really cost them, and considering they have money to burn, I don’t think they’ll let that happen again.

How much of an actual performance difference it ends up making remains to be seen. If they can both do 4K/60, I don’t think the average person will be able to tell any differences.

Being that the X1 launched with a lot of 720p and 900p games and the PS4 was hitting 1080p regularly that was the main issue, there won't be enough of a power gap between the two next gen regardless of who's "on top" to give one a real leg up in that area. I'm still not convinced about 4K/60 for either next gen, honestly I'd rather they go the faux K and 60 route if that would make 60 an option for most games, there are some faux K games on the Pro that look sharper than RDR2 on the One X due to the AA method Rockstar used which caused a soft picture.

I do hope some of those are true, like devs having to target the Anaconda as lead platform and not Lockhart. Because that has been my fear for a while now, that Lockhart will hold back Anaconda since devs will target the Lockhart, build games around that. Maybe I see this thing all wrong, maybe it doesn't work like that, but still.

Also this whole tflop thing, I can't see Xbox being lower with that next gen when they really aim to be the most powerful of them all, even if it's just slight differences.

A deep partnership, from console to cloud

I’m guessing next-gen remasters will have RT:

I'm kinda hoping they can give us a glimpse of raytracing during a segment about next gen at their E3 show. Why not show Halo Infinite on X without RT and then some footage of it with RT on Anaconda? I'd like that much better than just some CG trailer of the chip and devs talking about the system. Show us stuff.
