Pretty sure they meant Xbox One/ Xbox Series. The even mention wanting to drop Xbox One ver.

Notice that nobody is complaining about Series S yet. In this case, it isn't even a concern, while XOneS is. It seems to me like Series S can do the same features as Series X, but at a lower resolution, just as some have expected. Also, it might even be able to do DLSS style machine learning upscale, making it look very close in appearance to native 4K on Series X. We'll have to see what they announce.

People on here have deluded themselves to think the X1 isn't a hinderence to next gen game development.

The series S will be fine. Same architecture, same features, same dev tools, has all the velocity stuff, same SSD. Nothing there to hinderence game development.

nah, both the one and this “fake news” Lockhart shouldn’t hold back developers. But from what some at 343 have been saying that halo infinite will be a reboot/platform for halo then it clearly shouldn’t be made for the one. As a new “halo platform” how far can it continue with the one? They just need to “let it go”

Now we wait and see how Microsoft will respond to the leaks.

The worst case scenario is that they deny the price leaks, in order to keep the game of chicken going.

Yeah anyone thinking they were going lower than $499 for the Series X was crazy, they weren't going to throw a ton of money away just to try to undercut Sony, if they had planned on doing that the Series S would never have happened. These are expected prices and more than fair for what's in the box.

they will say nothing and wait for SONY to make the announcement of their price and MS will come in and tell the people we didn't confirm the price and they are wrong...here is the real price.

It's not going to be any lower than that, both consoles have SSD's and good CPU's in them these aren't HDD's with Jaguars, they cost a pretty penny to make and these prices are absolutely fair. No way they'd bother putting out a cheaper lower end model if they planned on offering a $399 console at launch, the constant fantasy some xbox fans had about them coming in $100 cheaper than Sony (if PS5 is indeed $499 and not more) was never realistic. MS wants to make money on this at some point and losing two hundred up front was never going to be a realistic option, if they had even thought about doing that seriously the Series S never would have been a real thing.

People should be happy that the Series X isn't more, that's a great deal for what you are getting in the box.

So what do you guys reckon? Ps5 disc edition will match SeriesX and maybe the digital version at least 50 bucks cheaper? Sony has the appeal to come in a bit pricier but seriesS might be very appealing in this Covid climate.

My guess is $399/$499

A $299 machine that provides meaningful upgrades to existing games while still being able to play next gen games/use next gen tech etc would be incredibly great value, just depends what it's packing.

With it being only digital would that deter some purchasers?

I guess Microsoft finally got their way....I just hope there’s no mandatory checkin or have to set it to home or really just let it out of the box let you play offline without having to jump through a bunch of hoops/menus to do so

and am I the only one who thought it was an adaptive controller at first glance?

Can the Admin change the thread to Series X/S because this just popped now?
Ya'll just keep going straight for my OCD jugular every damn time! There was already a Lockhart thread. Now that other thread is just gonna hang out there in cyberspace, ALONE! We still don't have the specs for Series S. Do we talk about that here, or in that abandoned, useless thread that I'll probably just forget about in a couple days?
