well

Problem is an arbitrary score doesn't tell the whole story. SoT at launch had a big content problem, but the gameplay, visuals, and general idea of the game was good. Also, after years of patches, content, added features, it may very well review differently today.

well

Um, you know that those reviews are based upon release 2.5 years ago, and it being a constantly updated online world, the release game is NOTHING like the game is now, right? Edit: I'm going to tone this back a little bit because you're clearly not informed....somehow, even though the game gets mentioned all of the time these days, with high Steam usage and sales numbers only recently.

I've said this before, but the game is currently at the equivalent of multiple sequels' worth of content in a single game, compared to an average game that has a static world. This is a changing world with side plots and multiple gameplay modes, all of which were added over time. There's constantly new content added monthly. Even the islands themselves change, to a certain point. The map has grown, and new areas open up. There's a volcanic region still erupting, etc. They can keep this world going for a while.

that’s right....

sooooooo, anyone believe SoT may get a graphics/FPS patch/boost for the series x?
I freaking hope so, and honestly, the game always has a ton of active users on every platform, so I hope to see this mentioned on Tuesday.

What makes this game such a great choice for an upgrade is that user engagement is very high, and changing a single player game usually means it's great for people that haven't played it, but only a few will actually replay a single player game because of an upgrade. There are exceptions, of course. On the flip side, this means some might be at a disadvantage (like w/ lower frame rate). I say it makes for a better incentive to upgrade your hardware. Anyway, the game already has HDR, and I don't think they'll do RT until a sequel, but I'd love to be wrong. I think that higher framerate is all but guaranteed for Series S|X.

Best Buy has their preorder site up. I'm still completely unsure where I will pre-order.

-Amazon - always a chance they screw up, but my last few console orders have been fine
-Best Buy - retain, ugh, but I can almost see the store from my house
-MS direct - ordered there once and no issues
