My Current Console Is....

So far I'm loving it, though of course I'm generally a fan so it's not like I'm pretending this is an objective opinion. But how quickly I can get from powered off into a game (other than Outriders and its infernal 45 seconds after authenticating before getting to the lobby) is amazing. I think they could have done a little better in getting some first party exclusives ready for launch, and by a little better I mean WTF? But it's a solid console and I'm really intrigued to see how it starts to perform once we're past the era of games designed from the start for this gen with the tools already available for this gen, rather than cross-gen games we have now or games mostly using last gen techniques.

A much requested user-feature is being included in today’s update! Users will now have access to a new group that will show all current Quick Resume save states. Additionally, the Guide will now indicate if your actively running game supports Quick Resume.

That's the odd thing. The Series X already has bitstream, has had it since Day 1, so I'm not sure what passthrough is going to improve.
It's not compatible with the official headset, i tried to set it up yesterday. I'm not entirely sure what it does either, as you mentioned, XS consoles already has bitstream.

Hmmm....that I honestly have no idea what they are trying to do with that. I'm fairly certain that Dolby Atmos requires bitstream anyway so idk. I don't own a XBox Series console.

EDIT: Maybe it's some kind of "direct" pure audio that doesn't get touched by any DSP's. If that's the case then this is worthless feature to anyone using a headset that is wireless or one that is wired into the controller.

The fact they added it suggest the console still interferes with bitstream. Otherwise, like you say, what would be the point.
