For our comrades who aren’t willing or capable of traveling to show in LA.

@starseeker @The Wolf King @Smogs @Swede @DriedMangoes and everyone else who may be interested and whom I’m forgetting

On Monday, we announced that Xbox FanFest will return alongside Xbox Games Showcase 2026, and that’s just the start. In celebration of our 25thanniversary, Xbox FanFest will go on tour, so that we can share this very special year alongside you, the players who have helped shape our history every step of the way, and will continue to shape for the next 25 years.

In addition to June’s Los Angeles FanFest, throughout the year, we’ll be bringing the party to Cologne (Germany), London (UK), Mexico City (Mexico), Seattle (USA), Sydney (Australia), Tokyo (Japan), and Toronto (Canada) – with more locations to be announced soon. Expect in-person experiences that bring the worlds of Xbox to life, with opportunities for players to connect with one another, and with the developers and creators behind your favorite Xbox games.

Each FanFest event will be unique to the location in which it’s held, celebrating the local Xbox community and the ways they engage with gaming, and the people that make it special.

All of which is to say: we want you to be there. Make sure to keep an eye on the FanFest website for information on how to secure your place at your local event, and for details on what will be happening at your specific event. And if you want to share your excitement about your local event, or keep an eye out for new details, make sure to use #XboxFanFest on social.

We’ll have more to share with you as we celebrate our 25 years of gaming together throughout the year; and very much hope you’ll join us!

Cologne is about 2 hours drive from where I live.

So MS higher ups wanted to go multi but once it started tanking MS stock and the XB brand now they going back to exclusives? Idiots. No wonder Phil left, he probably never wanted to go multi then became the fall guy.

He did state that he needed to do what those above him told him to do, those who wanted higher numbers but couldn’t get their cos they alienated the consumers to please the system stock holders, cos even if they’re in the green the numbers must go up even more

I stated this way back when that taking away your exclusives and going everywhere will devalue your brand. Many here followed MS marketing and said that this enables them to become more consumer friendly and defended it. Look where it's got MS now. Back to thinking about exclusives. Who would have thought, having appeal to drive your platform like how it's been done before seems to be what your core base wants 😉

Hey karmakid can you (or anyone else) let me know if they release dates for the Toronto event?

I'll probably forget or something, but I am 100% going to go to it.
Will do

@badmonk you should try to make it to a fanfest, if possible, no pressure
Would love to…. just work gets in the way 🤣

I actually got my first Xbox in LA, months before it came out in the UK. And my Xbox 360 I got at midnight launch in Vancouver. I remember a TV news crew wanted to come back to my apartment and film me unopening my console and playing a few games. I said I was super tired as just finished a night shoot (which was true) and going straight to bed. I didn’t and stayed up playing call of duty 2 till the early hours 🤣

I used to get my games from a store in NYC called Tronix. I could get 3 games sent over from the US to UK for the same price 2 games would cost me in England. And that time for the OG Xbox, games would be released weeks if not months before the UK so my friends were all jealous 🤣

My first PlayStation and also my PS3 were Japanese imports. Good times.

That’s awesome

I feel like we should reach out to Xbox so you can get some behind the scenes time with the helix and or one of the first ones if you give them a story of your history with gaming and Xbox

Anything we might have played?
Honestly it was years ago so cannot remember what we did lol 🤷, one I remember was a 007 game by the team that did PGR, as I got talking to them, they knew I was a gaming nerd by my knowledge of the industry so they gave me a signed copy of one of their games with a load of the guys from the studio putting their names on the box.

Another was with Treyarch but honestly cannot remember that one. I have done loads over the years, but a lot of times working on these, its normally just one or 2 days and they try and get as much mo cap data as they can.

Also a lot of the devs didn’t understand physical action, so they expected you to hang on a bar for ages or crouch walk for mins at a time. I had to ask them, can we not just do this in sections as they are making animation cycles etc, plus they can tweak it and make it slower/faster etc. I understand video games and action in real life so made its easier for both sides.

So then we started getting breaks which we needed. I have heard horror stories of other mo cap performers who got drove into the ground by having to perform actions hundreds of times over the day with no breaks etc.
As a lot of the devs don’t understand how hard it is to perform these actions, they just kept telling you to keep going 😂

Treating you like work horses lol that sucks man.

Took my son to this basketball show a couple weeks ago the library put on at the local park. One of the performers said he had done a lot of mo-cap work for the NBA 2K game series. Was really cool. They put on a good show.
