Woman dies after 'stabbing herself in neck in front of horrified shoppers' in Asda supermarket

Emergency services were called to the store in Shipley, West Yorkshire, where the unnamed woman is believed to have taken her own life.

One female witness claimed the woman was found lying in a pool of blood in the hardware aisle of the Asda supermarket in Shipley.

Police sealed off the the store at around 8:37am this morning.

Emergency services responded to reports that the woman, who has not yet been named, suffered a self-inflicted neck wound.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

"One of the young men who works there actually saw the woman stabbing herself in the throat. He's in terrible shock. Staff told me the woman had come in with a Polish woman and while her friend was at the bakery, she'd taken a knife from a rack in the hardware department, torn it out of the packaging and then stabbed herself."

I suppose it's one way of checking if the knives are any good.
 
The most puzzling thing about this is women hardly ever take their lives in such a way (statistically speaking).
1: it was violent
2: in public
3: women usually survive attempts due to the methods they use

Was doing a report the other week where they studied 100 suicide attempts and this one gent stabbed himself in the upper torso with a butchers knife like four times and lived. the whole time i'm reading it, all i can think of is "like a boss".
