Zynga layoffs and big acquistion

Zynga CEO Don Mattrick announces laying off 15% of their workforce (314 employees) and also acquistion of UK developer NationalMotion who I believe are behind the Euphoria engine.

I know a couple Zynga guys, sad to see yet another loss of jobs.

It's a tough bizz. Hopefully the devs laid off will find jobs elsewhere.

It seems quite common that developers get laying off in video game business a lot. That's a scary place to work for.

True that, the guys I know had just left EA about a year ago to pursue their careers with Zynga. I think its pretty common that jobs as devs are offered as contracts so many dont know if they will get them renewed from year to year. I was surprised to see that positionranked so high in the career Top Jobs thread as the job stability seems pretty tenuous.
