Can You Trust Journalists

I’m aware of who he is, honestly wasn’t expecting the review from him, nor did I read/watch it.

But him saying that those games are slightly above average is like saying a game rated at 7 is just average or mid.

I think someone mentioned that if you look at what most games on ign America are rated it’s a 7 (every other ign region scored it higher)….. there’s conspiracies about the biggest outlets giving it said score is way to bring in traffic as it’s a big investment to them, going to both sites you’re bombarded by guides and the likes. But that’s a topic for a separate new thread.

The fact is people keep whining about some nonexistent Sony bias because not everyone thinks this game is a 9 or a 10. This guy isn't anti xbox, he even went on to point out another game or two that he rated higher than the average rating was. They gave Halo Infinite a 9, there is no way in hell that game deserved 9 but it got it. This just proves that victim complex is undeserved.

I think the media reviews Xbox’s games honestly. With Sony they’re not as critical. Imo
So it’s not exactly a bias against Xbox. It’s a bias for Sony.
I just think claims like that are silly, this game has a metacritic of 87 or so last I checked on xbox at least, that's a really good score. The guy who reviewed it for IGN and the person who reviewed it for gamestop rated it what they thought it deserved, they are just people like you and I and they have their own opinions.

I totally get why someone would give this a 7, it has issues even if some people won't admit it. I am enjoying it a lot, but I also see the problems with it, I'm glad I bought it and I will definitely finish it but it's not the best game ever or even the best game I've played this year so far but that could change as I get further into it. It is one of the most ambitious games I've played sure but the execution in some spots is where it's not working out.

I've run into some areas that don't look very good, bugs that are making it hard to play, the story is not making much sense right now and the legacy issues with their design philosophy and engine make it seem dated. If giving up having a random object I don't need staying in place after I left a room would mean the constant loading would go away, I'd be all for that. Modern games don't have constant loads like this anymore so it's a bit jarring to go back to it.

I don't think it's being graded as an "xbox game" it's being graded as a Bethesda game or just a game in general, if this were a Sony exclusive I am sure it would have gotten the same reviews or maybe worse because the storytelling is where they make an impact with most games and the main story here so far isn't really all that engaging at least not yet.

Exactly this.

There is no agenda. The same people who gave Starfield a higher score this time around also gave Fallout 4 lower. Is that an agenda? No just different strokes for different folks. And the game is scoring a 85-88 across MC and OC. Fallout 4 was 88, Diablo 4 was 88. So Starfield is definitely considered a generally good game amongst the majority. Same with those games, some liked it some didn't. Simple as that.

My wife's friend writes BS reviews of things as a 100% full time job. Her company basically sells 5 star reviews.
You pay the company and provide them with some marketing bullet points to hit, then she basically writes the reviews, so they look a little different coming from different "people".

Never trust online review scores of anything. It is all manipulated by big business.

Couldn't be him possibly taking issue with the clickbait headline/sub heading rather than the article...

Also Kotaku. A site blacklisted by Nintendo.
Its more about Jez being biased which is ok because reasons.

Tweet is still right no matter how bad Kotaku is
