Having used the kinect for the X1 now, I can't imagine having the console without it...
Hopefully they never go Kinectless. I want developer support for this thing that is for sure. I don't want it half assed like other options out there.

in this day and age, exclusive AAA titles are harder to keep exclusive, wouldn't surprise me to see a Sony exclusive, or someone like Naughty Dog, jump to include X1

Isn't ND acquired by Sony? I don't see it ever going to a non-Sony platform.

What kind of things do you do mostly with Kinect? Cause even though i don't have a Xbox One yet...i already expect i won't be using it much. But maybe i am totally wrong.

Not a very strong imagination you have there. Especially considering that due to you "having used a Kinect", you don't need to imagine anymore.

I use it to navigate just about everything on my X1. You're able to access any game, app, or service without clicking through the different layers to get there. It's great to pause, play, and turn the volume up/down just by saying it and not fiddling with some remote.

Thats the voice part of Kinect. Sadly, the gesture, which is actually the core part of kinect, is underuse.

They can either release a cheaper, gestureless kinect, or voice commander (whatever they want to call it), or massively improve it, & make use of it. One of the thing I look forward to is kinect integration in core games (other than voice), but it looks quite unlikely now.

After spending two months with this thing, using a control for anything but game just feels odd. The voice recognition works the majority of the time and playing kinect rivals preseason gives the impression that motion controls can only go uphill.

But, like ZombiesRUCrazy said, smartglass application should work better than kinect for menu navigation among other things.

For me, I use it literally for everything navigating. I turn the box on with it, check messages, check for friends on line, start the games, use the voice commands (in game if available). I haven't skyped yet, no one I know uses it.

I would say more than 90% of the time, I don't touch my controller or even turn it on until I am actually in game and ready to play.

This and skype with my firends and family that can use skype on any pc or phone.

I still use my controller for just about everything. I do usually turn my Xbox on by saying "Xbox on" though. It's almost like a bonding moment.

I have a question about Xbox Live Gold Sharing, which doesn't seem to be answered here:

https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/xbox-live/xbox-live-gold-sharing-features

My question is this:

1. I have an Xbox Live Gold account, had it for almost 11 years now.
2. My son has an Xbox Live Gold account, had it for almost 4 years now.
3. Xbox One allows everyone who uses that Xbox to access Xbox Live Gold features.
4. If I get a second Xbox One, and add my profile to that new Xbox One (and retain it on my old Xbox One)
5. Can I let my son's Xbox Live Gold subscription expire and he continue to enjoy gold features because I am on both consoles?

The above article states that there just needs to be a gold subscriber's profile on the Xbox One in order for anyone else on the Xbox to be able to use gold features.

One of my favorite voice commands is "Xbox, record that". Not only is an awesomely handy feature to use without having to pause gameplay but it also a sly way of telling your opponent(s) that they just got owned and you're going to save video evidence of the moment.

I'm pretty sure for two X1s you would still need two Gold accounts, because your Gold account is going to be tied to its "home console"

So that must be the catch. What if I made my "home console" the one my son used, and it has my gold profile on it. And then I use my new Xbox One console with only my gold profile on it?

I might be missing something here. It is Friday and I am jonesing to get out of work!

I think that might work. If it does he would also be able to play any digital game you might have. I've been meaning to try it out with my brothers console.

But if they tried to get the single player to run @ 60fps then it would have to be downgraded. Would you then say it doesn't qualify as 1080p @ 60fps because it was downgraded.

Pretty sure it does hit 60 fps. Just like multiplayer, It's just not "locked".

Yup, same here. Forza 5 looks and plays a-f***ing-mazing. 1080p, 60fps. SOLID and locked too. Best looking game on console to date (though I haven't played Ryse), and best looking and playing racer on console ever.

Only on Xbox One baby!

I think rivals looks better. =)

Kinect-less option should have been day one.

I still can't find any use for Kinect outside of Xbox fitness and "Xbox, On".

The in-game Kinect features are lame as hell. "Say, Throw Spears!" in RYSE does not add ANYTHING at all to the game experience. It's like Wii boxing...flicking your wrists performs the action, performing an actual punch with your body is not required...but I guess for the casuals it makes them feel like they're really boxing.

All these Kinect people raving about how awesome Kinect was going to be and how it adds to the experience of the game...no, just no.

Yelling I need a medic in BF4 does not make me feel like I'm in battle or make me feel more immersed in the game.

Head-tracking in Forza 5 is just lame, doesn't do anything but create a distraction.

Kinect already saved me well over the $100 it cost just by saving me the need of having to buy some overpriced gaming headset. I can finally listen to a quality pair of headphones that go through my receiver and just use Kinect as the mic.

what you hate, others love... accept it and move on.

In Ryse, it is far easier to say "fire volley" than to do the button press. You have to press and hold the command as a button press vs. just saying it. That comes from the game originally being a kinect game I'd imagine.

I get what you are saying, but you need to stop portraying it like you are spouting fact and you are RIGHT and all of us that use it and like it are somehow wrong.

I apologize if I am off base, but that is the way you are coming off.

Agreed. I get tired of repeating myself and I feel like voice recognition is not worth 100+ dollars. I'm going to be very angry if they come out with a kinectless box for a lot cheaper. If I could have paid 350-400 I'd be a lot happier. Microsoft really hasn't shown me why I need kinect. I couldn't even play the wave race demo or w/e it's called. It was so messed up for me I dunno wtf was going on. Maybe I need to move my kinect to a new location but as of right now that thing sucks and doens't work worth a damn.

I'm sorry but I definitely have to disagree. They made the voice commands faster as an artificial way of making people use kinect which sucks because I had to scream fire volley so many gawd damn times I ended up just using the button anyway. It would have been cool if it worked correctly but it definitely didn't.

Maybe so.. mine works nearly flawless.

Plus, FFS it has been what TWO months and people like you are all "they haven't shown me why I need this yet"... like somehow, all the stuff they could do with it has already been done and now it's all downhill.

Jesus, I hated MOVE when it hit the PS3 but even I was tolerant enough to see how long it would take to WOW me (it didn't).

Kinect on the 360 was, for the most part, abysmal to me but it provided hours of fun for my kids several nights a week.

Kinect 2.0, is a baby. It is in its infancy. Let's let it grow up a bit before we haul out the pitchforks.

I can almost whisper the commands.. i wonder if you might have a bad mic array
