Well, they announced 3 million sold through by the end of 2013 and 3.9 million shipped to retailers. Then no more sold through numbers from beginning of 2014 until now and still, no sold through numbers. If they were doing as well as they had hoped, you'd bet they would announce those sold through to consumers numbers. If you were MS and from Jan 2014 until April 2014, you only sold about 1-1.5 million to consumers, I don't think you'd want to announce that either.

Xbox One is keeping pace in the U.S but is being outsold about 2:1 worldwide.

If you take away the U.S sales, the rest of the world is at 4 million PS4s sold and 2.5 million Xbox Ones shipped but not all sold through to consumers. PS4 is available in more countries though and obviously price is a huge factor.

Exactly, add in the fact that Sony has always been more popular outside of the US as a whole, then the numbers actually do make sense. So we can see how US is an extremely important market for MS to stay close yet even arguably their most hyped game of 2014 combined with special offers/price drops couldn't allow them to win March so what can MS do now? Hype the next big one aka Halo 2 Anniversary or officially drop the price. I'm guessing they will do this @ E3.

Not now Imo

Well I mean even counting PS3 I may be wrong but you never hear about sony games breaking records like with some MS games in sales. No idea about numbers but does even uncharted sell close to what halo and the first 3 GOW did on 360?

Not sure how you can spin this in any other way other than a blow to Xbox. They pulled out all the stops and still could not win even one month. I don't see anything in the future that is going to improve that trend either. I'm pretty sure a bunch of folks over at MS are on full damage control about now.

Also, what's wrong with a few gifs? Gaming such serious business now?

People are quick to forget the DC actually set records.

So do we know the Titanfall XBox One/PC%?

Remember seeing quite a few people saying the PC version would dominate sales.

I was one of those that said that PC and/or X360 would sell more copies.

But that was before MS started giving the game away like a drunk co-ed showing her tits off for beads at mardi gras.

Or they had permission to break corp policy once, but do not have it on an ongoing basis.

I think the attention should be less on how bad MS is doing (because they aren't doing bad) and more on how fantastic Sony is doing.

They've done it 3 times. Keep trying to make excuses for them though...

1 million sold through in less than 24 hours http://news.xbox.com/2013/11/xbox-one-biggest-launch-in-xbox-history

2 million sold through in first 18 days http://news.xbox.com/2013/12/xbox-one-december-announcement

3 million sold through by end of 2013 http://news.xbox.com/2014/01/xbox-one-january-thank-you

Fact of the matter is, demand has slowed down since beginning of 2014. So that leads us to believe that MS has not been doing as well as they had hoped so far in terms of X1 sales. They're still making a s*** load of money though from other aspects in the company.

I wonder at what point (number sold through) they will feel comfortable announcing it again? If things keep going as they are, they may never again.

All of that in a span of one month. The rest of the company sales hundreds of millions of licenses a month, but they do not talk about them until very specific times usually around the end of quarters. You are talking about the few exception to the rule. I am explaining the rule. That is not an excuse especially when you are talking about record sales for their division for a product that is $500.

Okay, so you're saying they'll release sold through to consumers at the end of this quarter?

But for MS to keep with them....a price drop is a must.
You mean besides the unofficial one that seems to have been happening with retailers? I agree that the price can't stay at $500 for much longer though.

Am I the only one who sees the math in all this? The sales are directly proportional to the price difference.

The One was selling for $450 with a free game, I don't see it.

Plus 7mil x ~$400 > ~4.5mil x $450-$500

That is the question what is keeping up to Sony mean? If they finish this generation selling 160 million consoles, but Sony sells 200 million will it matter to Microsoft? They could double console growth yet handily lose to Sony. In the grand scheme of things it would only matter for forum bragging rights.

Will PS4 keep out pacing the rate of sales set by the Wii? The Wii was supply constrained for longer and cheaper. PS4 supply has caught up to demand so I expect those lines to cross but the way it has sold so far, who knows.

They wanna win or come close.....at this rate Sony will beat them handily.

Some good estimating of what X1 is at WW right now (source from another site). Fair assumptions being made. If this is true, there is now approximately 7 million PS4s to 4 million X1's in people's homes worldwide. :surprise:

"Xbox One: over 3 million sold to consumers in 2013

XB1 US LTD in 2013 = 909,132 [Nov. NPD] + 908,000 [Dec. NPD] = 1,817,132 units sold

1817/3000 = 0.6057 -> XB1 US sales for 2013 accounted for 60.57% of its WW sales

Thus with the new XB1 US LTD = 2,527,132

2527*(1/.6057) = 4172.26 -> Thus XB1 US LTD suggests XB1 WW LTD of 4,172,260

*Note I strongly feel that the XB1 sold better at launch in the rest of the world than it is currently doing since the last official WW sell-through number was given hence it is likely more than 60.57% of XB1 WW LTD sales are in the US

For instance if that number was now 65% [Less than 4% more than launch ratios], XB1 WW LTD would be 2527*(1/.65) = 3887.69 -> XB1 WW LTD of 3,887,690

I seriously think there's a decent chance XB1 WW LTD could be under 4M right now which is crazy."

Im thinking we'll hear about a price drop come E3. Hopefully $450 to $420, somewhere around there. All things considered though; not bad for a $500 console. Sony is in straight beast mode right now though. Gotta give them that..
yeah xbo is doing great for its price and in comparison the the former xboxes.

I think they are a business that wants to make lots and lots of money. If they managed that while loosing to Sony I am sure they will be OK with it in the long run. Apple makes a ton of money coming in second place to Google's Android on phones/tablets.

Do the people working in the Xbox division really want to win? Probably, but does it really matter to the corporate bottom line?

Exactly. Who sells more - Coke or Pepsi? Who knows or even cares? MS doesn't need to do anything unless the numbers are really drastic (which they're not). MS is selling consoles and making money (and so is Sony).

As I said before, with all the negativity and higher price, who was expecting X1 to outsell PS4? Certainly not me. The X1 may never outsell PS4. So what? I'll still enjoy mine.

Obviously the mindset going into next-gen is to win it all. But when reality hits and your product is not selling as much as the competition, your mindset changes and it just switches to "as long we make a profit, I'm good."

Some Wii U to Dreamcast comparisons. Obviously, Nintendo is a much bigger company right now though while Dreamcast was new.

Dreamcast, March 2000:
60K

Dreamcast, March 2001:
123K

Wii U, March 2013:
68K

Wii U, March 2014:
70K

Dreamcast, January - March 2000:
198K

Dreamcast, January - March 2001:
398K

Wii U, January - March 2013:
191K

Wii U, January - March 2014:
201K

Dreamcast LTD (March 2001):
3.16 million

Wii U LTD (March 2014):
2.30 million

Well, this is America. Around here, If it isnt first place, its last. So make no mistake, Microsoft isnt comfortable with their position. No way they could be. So they are no doubt doing what they do best, only in over time mode.

You know that and I know that but spid seems to think otherwise.

It wasn't really the gifs that got the thread shut down. They didn't help, but the real problem was the personal animosity and the little digs people kept making at each other. Thread got stupid.

Im a master at gif-TING! I only post to minimize some of the tension. At least, until someone starts with the crazy s***, then I'm like...
