Well, one certainly has to have an emotional connection and an ego-bonding self-image attachment to a device, to waste so much time arguing over whose electronic doodad is best.

I dont think microsoft planned on winning the US. Not when they knew that Sony would release at $100 less before even releasing the One and that they would release later. If that were the case, they would have released at $400 as well.

I think the whole launch was just rushed for MS so not everything could be thought out and planned to the best of MS' abilities. From what I've been reading, they were planning to launch in 2014 but once they got wind of the PS4 being launched in 2013, they had to improvise and well, we see how that has impacted their "mojo" so to speak. Still, they are selling well compared with last gen sales but the PS4 is just a juggernaut right now.

Ehehehe. I don't care if you think the PS4 sucks or whatever so no I don't classify myself as a fanboy but for the record, I am liking what Sony's been doing more this gen than MS.

I just post factual information and correct others when they are posting non-factual; and for some, sometimes the truth hurts.
I dont think the 4 sucks. And of course you dont classify yourself as a fanboy. Oh no. No no no no no no no (yes) no no no no.....

Most of us do. Is there anyone here that posts false information? If so, I am sure Plainview would like to be notified. That probably constitutes a forum rule violation, as it would tread on trolling.

I don't know, I've been reading some posts that seem to contain inaccurate information so if left uncorrected, it would just lead to more and more misunderstandings so I try to correct when I can.

Yes, haha. Why?
Cuz I had no clue? I didn't recognize the name, but I recognized the posting style...then I was like....wtf...then I looked at your gamertags...and I was like...oh yeah..must be him.

Sup with the name change?

We're all connected in some ways, some moreso than others. Sometimes, we just need to take a step back, take a deep breath and remind ourselves that all this is purely for fun and should just enjoy life to its maximum potential. Who cares who sold what more, as long as you're healthy, everyone you love is healthy then life's good.

Wanted to get back to my gaming roots; "naty" was my first gaming handle and it's just easier to pronounce or read instead of the long "DriedMangoes".

MS would report sold through numbers if they compared favorably to the competition it's silly to pretend otherwise. They are only waiting for their next quarterly report because Sony has continually been updating their sold through numbers and they are much higher. MS is still doing fine in NA but globally it seems they are getting smashed, it's not just that Sony is available in more places but they are doing much better than MS in the places where both of them are available.

If you were MS and you had to announce that your new console was losing in sales to a competitor you smashed in NA last time that would you want to get specific? let alone the fact that the PS4 had huge supply issues the first couple of months and still isn't readily available at all retailers it makes perfect sense why MS wouldn't want to give out specific numbers now.

Yes. Yes he is. He/they are now officially Bi-polar! :D

Trolling is a rule violation, but posting incorrect information isn't. First reason is because it tasks the moderators with figuring out what is correct vs. incorrect information. With some of the technobabble people post sometimes, I sure as heck don't want to try to figure out what is true vs. false information. Second reason is that people who post incorrect info are sometimes doing it innocently -- they have half the story but not the whole story, they are misinformed, they have a bad source, they jumped to conclusions, etc. -- none of which needs moderating.

I understand and agree. But what if you have someone that is knowingly posting false information, consistently, with the INTENT of disturbing the community. I am talking about NO NEED to verify it's accuracy. I would call that trolling.

Agreed. If some knows the correct answer or information, post it and--even better--can back it up with a credible link, by all means do.:)

Me, too.

Right, it just becomes part of the back-and-forth of the conversation. I appreciate it when people bring solid information to the table and correct misperceptions (including my own). It's good to learn some new things now and then.

It's funny, really. Take the PS4 out of the equation--like it hadn't launched yet--and everyone would be talking about how astonishingly successful the XB1 is in such a short time compared to the 360. Success, I suppose, is only relative and a matter of perception. Oops. I think I dangled a participle.

Yup, the X1 on its own is successful. It's just that it pales in comparison to the PS4; which is on a whole nother level, it's beating the Wii's trend, for pete's sake.

Yet neither console has engaged even ten percent of their last gen install base as of today. A lot of road left to travel.

This is hilarious. Did Microsoft come out and say their main goal this generation is to sell more consoles then the ps4. If so, I must have missed it. They are way ahead in sales at YTD verses where the 360 was in the same time period and the ps3 had not even been released yet. I'm sure everyone at Microsoft is pretty happy how many consoles have sold at a 500 dollar price range and also in only 13 countries as of YTD. I mean coke outsells Pepsi but does that mean Pepsi is in trouble??? Hats off to Sony , they are killing it but at the same time Microsoft has nothing to hang their head about.

Yup, Rome wasn't build in one day. Yet, one of them is getting mightily close to reaching 10% of their last gen install base and this is not even half a year yet. I'll let you guess which one.
