The Xbox Onesie

I like the new changes, wish they had announced them before Destiny became available for pre-ordering though so that could have counted too! But I've been pleased with the rewards so far and this is even better! I'm not really interested in Forza but I could always download and manage to get ten hours into it for the extra points!

Holy crap dude, they added some good stuff. Highlights:
  • Play GWG game for 10 hours (first 14 days after release) - 1000 pts ($1)
  • Buy add-on content for GWG game (first 14 days after release) - 2000 pts ($2)
  • MyVIP - Keep spending money and earn "star" levels. Can get up to 10% discount and seems like it's cumulative (i.e. your star level doesn't reset). Gold members also earn star levels twice as fast as non-gold. $150 spend for first start (I have one star and am 42% on my way to 2 stars
  • Punchcards have been improved - Movies: Buy 2 HD and one SD movie and get 10,000 credits ($10)....or rent 10 HD moves and get $10; Games: Buy 3 GoD at $60/each and get $20 back.
Plus the kept most of the other stuff like surveys, MyAcheivements, etc. I imagine the discounts stack (i.e. MyAchievement level rebate stacks with MyVIP rebate) but I couldn't find that specific info. This is really turning into a nice program with realistic goals you can hit for discounts/rebates.

Cool stuff, I think Bing rewards are better though IMO. Easier and quicker to get money.

Sure but why not do both? Also don't know about easier. Most of the rewards stuff isn't any effort if its stuff you already do. Due to Bing rewards Xbox video is my primary movie rental service (or in the case I miss a TV episode, that as well) and my primary game service. I probably spend $300 - $400/yr on average. Folks that are going all digital are likely spending more than that across all of the Xbox Live services and there's even a punchcard for those folks (buy 3 $60 games, get $20 in rebates). I gather if I "max" out the standard rebates (5 star MyVIP and Master MyAcheivements), I'll likely get circa 15% back which is around $50 with my spend/yr. Not bad for "no effort". If your "trying" to hit some of the goals, your probably doing it wrong. The MyPunchcard stuff is definitely more reasonable now than some of the others that they had but still tough to do unless you are an avid movie watcher/cord cutter who buys their TV shows. It's possible I could rent 10 HD movies over the next 2 months but I've only been averaging 2 a month. I'm not going to rent a bunch more movies (spend more $$) just to get a $10 rebate. At any rate, this is all free and all for just buying stuff on the Marketplace/your Gamerscore/taking surveys/renewing Live/referring friends, etc. I'm stoked for this revamp and hope they make more improvements.

I was really looking forward to ducking behind my couch and popping out of cover to pick off enemies. Bring back Gears of War Kinect now. :D

Gone for this one.

My Xbox One HD won't survive Christmas.

please notice that for some external hdd's you'll need to set-up the spindown / sleep time with a pc. some hdd's are from stock set to never spin down.

I am around 75% now and have been thinking about which games I am going to delete. I like this idea plus the bonus of faster load times. Thanks for post. Does MS keep an official list of supported drive or ant will do? Have to start watching for sales.

Recommendations please, I know nothing about this stuff. Looked up the Wolf King's suggestion but apparently is not listed on Amazon in the US.

After getting Destiny digitally, my drive is getting full. Looking to upgrade it soon.

How does a USB 3.0 drive help load times? (if at all?)

Anyone else have this issue?

Every now and then my Kinect doesn't switch on with the console and not even unplugging and re plugging it works. I have to do a console reboot.

Thinking I might need to get it replaced before my year warranty is up.
