So unfortunately my five-year-old Panasonic plasma died on me last weekend . Have started looking at new TVs to replace it with and I honestly feel I'm taking several steps backwards because I love the plasma picture technology based on multiple reviews I have read of the new TVs .
However I've narrowed it down between a Sony model xbr55x810c and the Sony x850d witch is a new 2016 model . I went to this site www.rtings.com and read the reviews .
It seems that the only real big vantage of the 850 D model is the addition of HDR picture Technology . The 810C model does not offer full HDR. After doing some research and it seems like there could be a format for between Dobly HDR and other competitor Using the same technology . Is HDR with it right now ??? Or is this something that will be more mainstreamed 3 to 5 years from now .
The 850d model at Best Buy will run about 1400.00. The cheaper 810c model will run about 900.00. After reading the reviews from that website I posted above it looks like the cheaper 810C model has a slightly better picture than the new more expensive model. The 810c also uses a VA panel which peers to have better contrast and deeper blacks then the IPS panel The more expensive model has .
From my research the IPS is better for wider viewing angles but I will always be viewing my TV head on. So the question is , do you guys think it's worth the 500 more for the more expensive model with HDR or is the cheaper 810c the better value and bang for the buck . Is HDR a game changer at this point in time ??
