Horizon: Zero Dawn

People finally see how good Guerrilla are at tech now with this game. Better than Naughty Dog.

I never doubted their talent technically, I just doubted they could make a great action rpg. Im about 5 hours in and this is mind boggling good visually, gameplay, and story even. It really has that instant classic feel.

I rarely get that wow feeling from games these days, this has done that 3 times. My mouth has dropped at the visuals.

This game is being a pain to get installed.

Til then, my statue...

I'm only about 3 hours in but wow such a looker of a game. I don't like sprinting because the visuals are that good, the lighting effects in this game are truly spectacular. When you see moonlight rays coming through foliage you have to be impressed. I had read some complaints about the lack of a lock-on feature for combat. But so far I haven't had any issues. Ygritte I mean Aloy takes such wide swings with the spear that as long as you're close to the enemy you will make contact. Speaking of the controls they are nice and tight just the way I like them.

Another winning post Rollins.......wait.

Hey, you should know by now I only exist to take a hot, steamy dump on anything that isn't MS!

But seriously, this game looks awesome. I'm all for new IPs.

This also proves why I don't think I'll ever buy a game at launch again, unless I absolutely must play it. On average, I've found most popular titles can found for $20-$30 less within a month or so of release.

I'm going to bed. It's past midnight. I AM NOT starting this game up for a quick look. No sir. No way.

I have put just about 2 hours in and I must say...the start was NOT good for me at all. Controlling little Aloy in the caves was total frustration with the camera. Tried everything I could to work with the settings and nothing helped. I am was praying that over time I would get used to it but thinking all along that this must be some sort of joke.

THANKFULLY once she grew up it was like the controls completely changed and managing the camera in the open presents no trouble at all. Like someone else said, the controls are spot on and shooting, running, jumping, climbing all works fabulously.

This is a total stop and pause game and I should be taking screenshots for ya'll. Sorry. I will try to get some up down the road as I am really enjoying the everything about it right now and want to get back to it stat.

I didn't have trouble controlling her or the camera. It's a lot different than when she's an adult for sure. Maybe they wanted little Aloy to be a bit clumsy or something. I stopped playing right after I could manually save. Game looks good so far with some of the best surround sound I've probably heard in a game.

I didn't have a hard time controlling her either and I liked that they included that section to help set up the story but I will admit I wanted her to grow up fast so I could start playing the main part of the game lol.

I thought it was obvious child Aloy was meant to be clumsy with her flailing arms as she ran.

I think that the last game I played being Bloodborne helps me. I'm still very twitchy since you really have to be on your toes for that game. So dodging these machines has been a piece of cake. I started on normal difficulty but that might have been a mistake. I'm only judging this by my limited time with the game and I've only fought one large machine. Who knows what awaits as I get further.

Played the intro. Looks amazing and combat seems like its going to be fun.

The only thing I'm annoyed with so far is the day/night and weather changing so quickly at times.

That seems to happen more in the early part of the game, I'm still pretty early in it myself (only been to about 1/3 of the map at most, I have Aloy at level 15) but the day/night cycle seems to be slower now.

I still can't get over how good this game looks lol, also I have to say the animation is great! the machines really move around like they were animals.

That's good to know. It seems to randomly happen, like to advance the game or somehing perhaps. I haven't played much at all. I just got that Sega dreamcaster thing or whatever it's called to trap stuff, then stopped soon after.

Yeah, the lighting and animation are great. I had someone watching me play, but they got mad and left the room because I kept walking around too slow admiring everything.

If you haven't bought horizon yet, wait till 2/7/17 because Target is having a buy 2 get 1 free promo on all video games (excluding switch games). Example: Nier Automata, Nioh, and Horizon Zero Dawn for $130 with tax. That's what I'm planning to do.

I still can't wrap my mind around the fact that this is an open world game with how good it looks. I spent so much time just killing striders and watchers in different ways in the first little area yesterday. I'm loving the stealth attack perk, and the trip caster mixed with the downed enemy attack perk. I can already tell this is going to be one of those games where you want each and every perk. Really happy with this so far.

And I'm mad that the last game I played was Titanfall 2, as I keep hitting X in this game since that was the "boost" / dodge button in titans, and my character just jumps up in the air and gets plowed into by a machine! The square, x, and circle buttons are definitely going to take a slight learning curve for me. I can always tell my age by how slow I am to learn new control schemes. I seem to have the weapons and focus mode down now though.

I have to admit, I'm only a little bit in (basically the tutorial) but I am very impressed so far. Game is just amazing looking and so far the fps seems really stable. One reason I was stuck in the tutorial is I spent so much time in photomode (and of course forgot to save any pics I can upload).

This honestly feels like the first next gen game I've played. I mean if you compare it to Witcher 3, which I love and think looks beautiful, Horizon looks like it's a full generation ahead of it.

The gameplay and animation is really smooth and fun too. Though Im still learning not to take on a whole herd still. Learning the hard way.

I agree completely. I was wondering if we can unlock everything in the game. I'll be doing every side mission and anything else that grants XP in the hopes that the game doesn't end before I have every ability/perk.

Does anyone know what Sucker Punch is up to these days? If they release some kickass FPS it will confirm that we are living in bizarro world.

Yeah, just coming from playing the DLC in the Witcher 3, just the animation and visual effects alone in Horizon blow witcher 3 out of the water, then you figure in 4k versus 1080p for pro users, but the environment looks so much better here, the textures are far superior, more draw distance and on top of that the combat is more satisfying. I loved the witcher 3, but even when you were a master it came off as clunky looking in combat. Also, this feels smoother to me as well.

What difficulty are people playing on? I'm just about to start on the hardest one.
