WTF is this about?

"PlayStation®Plus prices are changing From 00:01 BST on 31 August 2017 we are changing the prices of PlayStation®Plus.

- Annually, the price will change from €49.99 to €59.99 per annum.
- Quarterly, the price will change from €19.99 to €24.99 per quarter.
- Monthly, the price will change from €6.99 to €7.99 per month."

What have they improved to justify this? It's an awful service when compared to XBL - and that hasn't had a price increase in nearly 10 years.

Price hike sucks. Just chalk it up to the cost of being a gamer.

Look on the bright side. PSN has been giving away some great games for members of the service.

Like said, there hasn't been an increase in XBL for a very long time. PSN only started charging two or three years ago and already they've done this and with no noticeable improvement to the service.

Doesn't look like this includes North America, which saw an increase last fall. It's about time you freeloadin' cheap bastards finally caught up. :hehe:

We got a Live price increase some time ago over here in the US of A. And at that time there was nothing new added or improved. Live is a great service but as a member of both Live and PSN I see no advantage that Live has over PSN. Actually, PSN in my experience is the faster of the two services.

Value is in the eye of the purchaser. If you see no value in PSN you can skip it but as I mentioned before you'll miss out on some great games that are offered at no additional cost. As a gamer I can't see myself without either service. In fact, I just recently renewed my Live subscription even though I hardly use it these days since most of my gaming is done on my PS4 Pro. That could change with the release of the XBX. :hehe:

I usually bought the 3 month packs. That went up $7.

$60 annually is a much better deal. It seems like they are pushing the annual packs.

As much as he don't use it.... I wouldn't renew either.
I did the same with XBL as it was not used much so no need to renew and online play is free on PC which gives even less reason for me.

Mark my words, I will NEVER pay to play online!

...said a lot of people, a few short years ago, including a couple of my friends.

Haven't paid for XBL or PS+ for about 7 or 8 years.

I don't even know what I get that's worth having PSN+ anymore.

"Free" games I never have the time to actually play I suppose. I still have an Xbox Live Gold although haven't played a game on my Xbox since February or something. Doubt I will bother renewing that. PS+ is doubtful as well as I am almost entirely single player and I rarely find the time to play those included games.

I am in the same boat with XBL and PSN. I am more single player now. But on the rare occasion I want to play a game online, like say Destiny Strikes, could just buy XBL for a month, or PSN for a month. I don't care about the free games.

The only real value in PSN/XBL is the monthly games. Other than that you pay because of necessity and not really because its worth it.

Depends how you look at it. The money for live has been invested in improving the service. Think of all the features we have now that weren't there at the birth of live. Then you have all updates like the big seasonal ones that add new features and functionality. Live money also gets used for other thing things like helping buy MS's Cloud servers which we use all the time. It helps fund things like cloud compute, etc.

When I think of all these things we continuely get it makes me not mind.

Sorry for using XBL in a PS thread but I don't know much about PSN improvements since they started charging.

Price hike is justified to play on the No1 selling console with no cross-play
