Xbox One X

Also like the fact that the X has no vents on top. Can stack a monitor on top of it which is nice when traveling and trying to set up in a smaller desk space.

Yet another solid article from ForbeStation:

Michael Pachter: Xbox One X Won't Sell Well For A Pretty Simple Reason

https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidt...well-for-a-pretty-simple-reason/#218c49fb1fb6

The conversation may have died down a bit since E3, but one of the biggest stories in gaming this fall is arguably the launch of the Xbox One X, Microsoft's turbocharged 4K follow-up to the Xbox One and answer to Sony's PS4 Pro. It's a beast of a machine, but like the PS4 Pro, it will play all the same games as its less-powerful counterpart, just with improved performance and/or graphics. How it will perform in the market remains a big question, however. Not only does it face unexpected conceptual competition in the form of the breezy and fun Nintendo Switch, but we're still figuring out the degree to which console gamers will pay extra money for 4K graphics without new games.

People have argued that it will be hampered by a lackluster exclusive catalog or that it faces competition from PC, as well as various other things. But I'd say the most important factor determining Xbox One X sales is the same thing that caused the Xbox One so many problems: the price. The Xbox One X is debuting at $500 next to the PS4 Pro's $400, the same difference as the Xbox One and the PS4. On top of that, the console is twice as expensive as an Xbox One S or PS4, and that's a pretty big difference to most people. That's the argument that Michael Pachter makes in his latest Pacher Factor video: that price is going to be the biggest problem for Microsoft's new machine in the fall. Skip to 12:25 for the relevant parts, with an added dig on Rick Perry:

I tend to agree. Those inside the fiery world of video game blogs tend to forget how similar these systems really are, at the end of the day. Yes, the PS4 Pro achieves its 4K graphics with less horsepower than the Xbox One X and comes out looking less sharp as a result, and Xbox One X appears to have an easier time hitting framerate targets. But at the end of the day, the Xbox One X, the PS4 Pro, the Xbox One S and PS4 are four consoles that sit underneath your TV and play mostly the same games with pretty similar graphics. For many, the most important difference is going to be the price tag. And staring down a $250 console with bundled software next to a $500 without bundled software begins to look like a straightforward decision.

I wonder if everyone conveniently forgets that there will be a $229 Xbox One S selling along side of this, AND if they forgot what Phil Spencer said:

Xbox boss Phil Spencer interview – ‘I’m not trying to sell everybody on Scorpio’

PS: [laughs] We’ll test that. [laughs] We’ll test that when the time comes. [laughs] I like Project Scorpio because I think we defined a high-end, premium console experience for 4K gaming. I like Xbox One S because I think we’ve got a good entry level price for a console with great functionality. And we’re selling more Xbox Ones at this point in the generation than we did 360s. So I love where we are.

"I call it a premium console because I want people to be clear that the customer we're building that for is the premium gaming customer," said Spencer. "The person who buys the majority of the games, the person who's playing the most games, spending the most hours, spending the most dollars. It's like our Elite controller. I call that a premium controller.

"I'm not trying to scare anybody on the price. We're going to come out on a price that we think is fair for the product that we build and the customers will tell us as they always do. I call it premium because I don't want people to get confused that somehow Scorpio is the thing that is going to take over the Xbox line."

I remember when Forbes used to be a respectable business publication, in the same league with the Wall St Journal.

Now? Even their video game info is clickbait.

Sure it will only sell 6 million at $500 year 1. That's why its not the only model, by the time its $300 (Xbox One XS) I'm a be waiting on the Xbox One XL

Don't think the X looks bad by any stretch but I think the S may be my favorite looking console ever. Usually white looks cheap but for some reason, the S doesn't.

Size situation is one of its most under-hyped factors. I took another trip and really wanted to bring my Pro to play The Show and Bloodbourne. In the end, it was just too bulky while my S fits in a backpack along with everything else I needed. Fact that the X is even more portable is way under-rated for anyone who travels.

Yeah it's just a personal preference thing, I just hate white consoles and always have. To me the One S has always looked like a shoe box. Maybe if it wasn't white it'd be another story but I just can't get past that lol.

I would've been perfectly happy if they simply shoved the Xbox One X into the Xbox One S chassis.. design-wise, it's pretty much perfect for my tastes. Don't get me wrong, the Xbox One X looks nice, a bit of an accidental homage to PS2 a bit (one of my favorite designs), but Xbox One S is just on point IMO.

The One X looks so much better than the One S, damn I HATE white consoles lol.
But there's already been different colors for the S. Mine is Storm Gray (BF1 Ed) and it looks nearly identical to the X.

Hopefully we'll get the name of the hue... isn't the current S named something like "android white"?

And is it just me or is the X looking like it has a dash of green in it like the original Xbox? Where it's more noticeable under sunlight.

Just to add a little relative perspective, he also said mouse/keyboard support wouldn't be much longer... a year ago.

I was hoping that was gonna be part of Halo Wars 2 release

What is going on in this thread? Everyone is getting along...

That one probably doesn't look as bad then, the white is the biggest offender IMO, the slight difference in shape also makes the One X look better IMO.

Understandable.

The shape though, looks virtually the same. The X is just a bit smaller, no vent up top, and the drive slot is now lower (that's the only part that I don't like as much).

Hmm... I wonder if Assassin's Creed will get some exclusive gameplay. When I went to pax east there was a similar enclosure where they showed us some special Ass Creed 3 footage..
As I mentioned in another thread why is Fable Legends being shown?

You sure that's legit? gamescom doesn't start for 10 days, seems strange their booth would be totally set up this early.

Edit: Just watched it full screen, that's just a render isn't it? and the video comes from a youtube account with less than 400 subs.

That's a computer generated image for the booth my man. Probably something the booth Designer sent them.
