It took Sony three days to make that announcement. Microsoft made the million sold announcement in 18 hours.

I did, and the X1's have a vigorous second hand market as well. They seem to be selling for $50-$60 more than the PS4's...

Not a single actual data point supports the ps4 fan notion that has taken over the web the last few days that the PS4 is somehow dominating the X1. I don't doubt that the PS4 is selling mildly more than the X1, but domination is certainly not happening.

PS4s = $399 = are going for $550+ on eBay = $150
X1s = $499 = are going for $650+ = $150

How is that $60+ more than PS4? Looks like even to me.

Because you can walk into a store and actually buy an X1 during BFs. How do you expect the PS4 to compete when none of the stores had them in stock?

Well I expect if the PS4 was this amazingly more capable and popular with the end consumer than the horrible and defective, weak, VCR shaped console that is the X1, then people would abstain from buying it, like they did the X360 and PS4 around the time that the Wii was selling like hotcakes. But they are not. Even if your theory is true, they are still willing to buy an X1. By your own argument there is no such thing as PS4 domination happening.

Sony screwed up their supply chain, and that is completely apparent now.

That was without Europe number since the PS4 was released last night in Europe. X1 included Europe? Not quite sure.

Well ok, I was going by active auctions, I was filtering out the auctions that someone won, by simply bidding a high price...

I don't get the low Wii U sales. They had some great looking bundles. If I had the cash I would have scooped one up big time.
yes, but would you take one over every other console?
Its all in how you sak the question in a survey.
ex: What's the the one console you are wanting to buy.
If you own any console the question automatically takes those out. So if a lot of people own a Wii u they can't give that answer.
On personal level Wii u sucks, and I hope that Mario,Donkey Kong, and Zelda come to Xbox2 as launch titles.
BTW I have never played Zelda.lol

So you are saying Sony was not prepared for the biggest shopping day of the season in America? That is just idiotic.

Sony is releasing consoles all over the world right now, America will survive with the current shortage.

My$.02 is that only by figuring out units produced to units sold is all that really matters with a " shortage" of consoles.
I really doubt that producing a false demand would be foolish. Not saying anyone has said that btw. If MS has for example 10 million console and sold 2 million. Sony has made 3 million but also sold 2 million then that would be huge difference in interested people in a product ala word of mouth/ media hype.
We won't really know until the first fiscal quarter of 2014 what is really going on. So that all the numbers can be added and some genius on the internet will dissect

Oh and as for eBay you can't say that the X1 costs $100 more than the PS4, and in the same breath say that the X1 is not going for extra $100 more on eBay.
Public warning announcement: This post isn't directed at any one. I hit the wrong button on my phone. Its to late and I'm to tired to mess with it. I hope this makes sence. Very tired been playing games and celebrating my wires bday all night.

That wasnt my point.

It's positive news that the X1 is off to a good start, but really, i remember loving the original XBOX and it wasn't a popular, big selling console.
On a personal level, i don't care what console is more popular, just the one that satisfies me.

The XBOX brand has come along way, im sure it will do fine this gen.

Yup, and we are surviving by buying X1 consoles instead of PS4's. Im not real sure what Sony's calculus was here. Im thinking that they mistakenly thought they had enough brand loyalty that people would hold off on the X1 and wait until the PS4 supplies improved. Instead everyone is buying X1's and Sony is going to lose the American Market a second generation in a row.

Investors should be livid and fire the whole executive staff of Sony. Spend a billion dollars that they don't have marketing in the US market, fail to create a brand, then cede the market to Microsoft.

The PS4 will go down in history as one of the worst botched product launches ever. Will get its own chapter in Econ 101.

Whilst I'm not going to lose any sleep over any of the trends/sales the question arises and that question for me is, isn't your bold statement a little premature to declare right now?

This discussion is in regards to Black Friday sales in the United States, one day, a console that has stock in stores as opposed to one that is struggling with shortages because they're supplying demand for 32 countries.
MS may consider their launch a world launch but 13 countries is not the world in all fairness.

Not sure if serious but if you are, I am shocked you actually think this.
PS4 is kicking ass right now in sales.

Yeah, that sounds like excuses for the poor PS4 sales. (also apparently PS3 sales have collapsed while X360 sales remain strong) Sony should have staged their roll out more carefully. Lets not kid ourselves here, that chart indicates poor to bad PS4 sales. It is only selling marginally more than the WiiU outside of the context of a launch event.

Look, if people are going to the store to buy a PS4, and they get an X1 instead, that means that Sony essentially has zero brand loyalty. After the billions of dollars that Sony spent over the last year trying to build a brand, and trash Microsoft, and essentially failing at that, the PS4 could really be the WiiU 2.0 (the same could be true for the X1 tho...)

I guess I will pull away for deep trouble language, but this certainly reveals cracks. Given Sonys precarious financial situation, the PS4 failing outside of launch window could be the blow that eventually drives Sony bankrupt.

My sleeping problems this last week were all caused by BF4...

Not sure what you're disagreeing with, can you elaborate please?

Yeah, that sounds like excuses for the poor PS4 sales.

Again it doesnt matter how many countries you launch in. It matters how much supply you have for the countries you launch in.

For all we know most of those 32 countries could get a few thousand units each. Or they could have way more.

The bottom line is we cant use countries to determine anything.

You can't negate it either. Flip side of that coin.

What do people feel about the whole crushed black issue? I enjoy playing on my X1, but I do think the blacks look very dark. I've had to up the brightness in BF4 and a little on my Television to try and compensate for it.

KI also seems to suffer from it.

My X1 is hooked to a monitor and the blacks are fine by me.
