The Initiative’s Perfect Dark

Yeah, I don't know that a game director's work would be done over a year before it's release. This is worrisome to me, my hopes for this game being as good as it needs to be grow smaller pretty much any time there's any sort of news about it.

Maybe, but don’t studios have multiple directors? A studio I was at had a few lol

I don't think so, not in the sense that there are multiple directors with the same responsibilities. There are animation directors, audio directors etc, but I'm pretty sure they don't just have a bench full of game directors sitting on deck waiting for their turn to lead development....

You can spin it any way you want but 2 directors leaving a project before completion isn't a good thing. Not gloom and doom but not sunshine and roses either. Hopefully development continues smoothly and doesn't hit a Halo Infinite like snag.

Interestingly it says on LinkedIn he is open to work immediately. Could point to a firing or rage quitting more than a typical resignation? He also worked at Crystal Dynamics previously and had a three year gap until he worked at The Initiative, so perhaps bringing CD onboard to help rubbed him the wrong way due to past relationships there.

Yeah, most of them left after Crystal Dynamics was hired, and much of the game play was already done in February of 2020 when Phil played it.

This has been Microsoft's Achilles heel for years. Mismanagement of IPs and studios. With the amount of studios they have now, this needs to get sorted out quickly.

This is true. With that said, they don't want another Crackdown 3. They need to delay until it's ready, regardless of how much that sucks for us.

I really enjoyed the CD3 campaign. They should have just shelved the MP and released it at $20 campaign only.
I still wish they'd make a superhero game with the same graphical style as CD3 on the new consoles but add destruction etc that doesn't require online. That tech demo of a MP mode they made was worthless, the bones of CD3's campaign were good it was just missing a few things.
