Me too, but the chances of getting a complete from-the-ground-up remake of games like Morrowind or Jade Empire (or even RDR for that matter) is very slim. So I'll take the free 4K upgrades and other performance boosts, thank you very much.

That is much better than nothing and it's great for the 360 games that they have been able to do it with, sadly it's only a handful of games and honestly the original xbox games just won't age as well as the 360 games do. I'd still rather have a full remake of RDR but the One X makes the original look better than ever.

So you think Sony will do exactly what they did last year? If no new hardware news is coming...
Expect much new shockers from them to keep the momentum going unlike what they did last year.

Nintendo showing Metroid and it being good will win it for most but expect more.

Microsoft is hard to guess as people been thirsty all this time. Will they finally give them some drinks?

I don't expect a ton of surprises from Sony simply because just about all of their 1st party studios already have announced games or have just released something in the last year or so. I'm sure we'll see plenty of great stuff but I don't think we'll get many surprises unless they come from a deal that's been made with an outside studio.

That was last years E3...
Expect more this year and Bloodborne 2 or dare i say demon souls 2 would cause sum nut bustage.

It's the biggest videogame in the history of the medium. Read that again. It's about to launch in China this week. Which means the biggest game of all time is about to be exposed to China. CHI-NA.

Epic is holding the following event at E3 which will shatter Twitch and Youtube records...

Epic has been relatively quiet since their last State of Development Update two months ago. If they're holding their cards to their vest for the next 51 days, and planning on showing them to people at E3, it has a chance at being "The Game" at E3.

This isn't 2008. Welcome to the future .

It's FREE not impressive at all.
Epic blows these days.

If you mean the gameplay of OG Xbox games doesn't age well, I probably disagree with that. I think the OG Xbox generation and early 360 years produced some really good games. It also produced types of games you don't see anymore.

Having said that, it's hard to get too too excited about replaying old games, when there are so many great new ones coming out.

For some reason, they are more successful in upgrading OG Xbox than 360 games. I'm not clear on why that is. Only a minority of 360 BC titles are 4K, but all of the OG titles are. I've heard various explanations.

I wouldn't expect much simply because of timing, Guerrilla released Horizon last year so it's going to be a while before we see something else from them, Santa Monica just released God of War, Naughty Dog has already announced TLOU2 and Sucker Punch has already announced Ghost of Tsushima. We already know Death Stranding is coming at some point but I wouldn't be shocked if we got another nonsensical trailer for that game with no gameplay. You could be right about a Bloodborne sequel but that's basically what I said, a second party working on some kind of exclusive is possible but I look mostly for them to be showcasing already announced games, some with the first look at gameplay and also featuring a lot of third party content including more Destiny and COD stuff because of those marketing deals and MAYBE something on RDR2.

I'm talking about graphically, especially the original Xbox games, upgrading the resolution isn't going to add geometry etc. And again that's the enhanced games, the ones that aren't will look awful. I know playing The Witcher 2 before it got it's 4K upgrade bummed me out, I was looking forward to playing it again but it was so blurry and jagged looking I just said "F" it and quit, now it looks much better, nowhere near current gen but it's still a game that's visually pleasant. I'd swear it looked worse than it did on the 360, of course back then I wasn't used to looking at games that are over 1080p and I wasn't playing on a 4K set either lol.

Oh, graphically. Yeah, they won't match up to current gen standards in that regard. That's fine. I don't think anyone expects them to.

Personally, when I heard "BC," what I expected was just playing the old games in their original form. That's why BC didn't interest me. I might play one old game every couple years like that, but the 480p - 720p graphics and chuggy framerates are hard to take. It has only been with the advent of the X and the visual and performance boosts that come with it that I've gotten interested.

I was at about 10% interest in getting an X prior to the BC announcements; now I'm at about 50%. That's why I'm looking forward to MS's E3. I need them to push me a little further.

Yep. Gears 2 still plays great.

I think it's because OG xbox was more traditional where 360 was more proprietary. For this reason I don't think MS will ever go unorthodox again, unless that can be bridged by the OS.

I'm glad I bought mine but I wouldn't say it's a must have if you already own a PS4 Pro, the BC stuff is nice for the games that get the extra enhancements for sure but the vast majority of them are just straight emulations from the 360 with the benefit of no screen tearing and better texture filtering but at that low res the textures really don't look much better than before, at least not on the games I tried before they were fixed up with the X enhancements.

Yeah, I'm specifically talking about the games that are X-enhanced, either the 360 ones or OG ones. There are enough of those I'd like to play (9) to motivate a purchase.

And I know more will come. The public reception has been very positive, and they're getting more experienced with the technology. Plus, the X-enhanced games reinforce their narrative of the X being the premium console. And of course, it is a great differentiator and bragging point over Sony, who offers none of this.

I was looking at the thread @ Resetera about possible Super Smash Brothers characters.

I'd flip s*** if they added Goku from DBZ. Apparently there is a strong possibility.

Nintendo has kind of slipped off the radar for me. Last year I was considering getting a Switch, because they were knocking it out of the park with GOTG stuff like Zelda and Mario. But now it seems like there's a drought (although maybe that's just in contrast to how good things were last year?). And it seems like the only things to look forward to are hardcore Nintendo stuff like Pokemon, Smash Brothers, and so forth. There is Metroid, but that seems like a long ways off.

Is there something to be excited about, if you're not a hardcore Nintendo fan?

I added an option for pessimists.

With you being mainly a sp player gamer... not owning a switch as a 2nd console is sacrilegious.

How do I atone? Make a sacrifice to ... who's the god of SP gaming? Gordon Freeman? Oh wait ... it's Mario, isn't it?

Yeah, in my head, I'd be buying a Switch mainly to play one game, Zelda, and that just doesn't compute. There's Mario, and although I'd probably enjoy that one if I were in the mood, I'm not much of a Mario guy. I had my eye on other games like Xenosaga and the Bayonetta re-releases, but I lost interest in those. Well, Bayonetta 2 would probably still be good. But I can't justify buying a console for a couple of games.

That's why I was asking, is there something for people outside the Nintendo core audience to get excited about?

Dont forget Metroid which could be huge.
