NASA discovers 715 New Planets:

(CNN) -- Our galactic neighborhood just got a lot bigger. NASA on Wednesday announced the discovery of 715 new planets, by far the biggest batch of planets ever unveiled at once.

Four of those planets are in what NASA calls the "habitable zone," meaning they have the makeup to potentially support life.

I've always wondered what their place looks like. It's killing me not knowing the answer to that question!

I can't even imagine how much sh!t is out there that we don't know about. Kills me thinking about this stuff.

I like this space stuff, but at the same time it's kind of upsetting. Knowing there's literally infinite things out there that none of use will ever see/go to.

And NASA will steal our tax money (BILLIONS, BILLIONS, BILLIONS!) to build a spaceship.

I'd at least feel good about where my money is going if I knew it was going towards space exploration.

It would be so cool if we could see planets like this, this close in our sky

From Coheed and Cambria's Juggernaut music video.

If Jupiter were close to us as our moon, it would take up a lot of our sky.

Want some mind blowing stuff? Try to fathom "size" in this picture:
Star-sizes.jpg

In image three, the Jupiter is the smallest, while our sun is small in comparison to Sirius (star).

Then in image four to six, our sun becomes microscopic. The fact that these beasts are out in space and they're so massive, massive beyond our comprehension and we maybe see them as tiny dots in night time sky....that amazes me.

Exactly. The universe amazes me too and to think that we have barely scratched the surface of the mysteries of our own planet. To think of all that is out there is mind boggling.

There's likely other plants exactly like ours that are larger and have ZERO human life on them. The only life they might have could be animals of all kinds roaming their planet. I can't imagine the beauty that those planets have on them where they're untouched by human hands. There are some pretty amazing places on our earth that are natural wonders of the earth, i.e., Grand Canyon, Rocky Mountains, etc. It'd be amazing to visit a planet that is all the amazing things we see here but multiplied by twice or three times the size of our planet.

It really is. Sometimes I'll just look at Hubble photos and just try to wrap my head around it all.

That would be something to behold. The wildlife would prolly look vastly different too on a planet two or three times the size of Earth. The creatures would prolly be a lot smaller or a lot more jacked (if they were the average Earth humanoid height) with those amounts of gravity. You'd quite likely have a "Hulk" if you were to bring on back to Earth...

Sometimes i wonder if some of these arid planets once had life somewhat like ours millions of years ago, and became a wasteland for some reason or another, perhaps nuclear warfare or climate change... or reapers.

Time to stop looking for new planets and start building something to get us there before Earth's days are numbered.

Until we can somehow figure out how to surpass the speed of light (which most argue is impossible), we aren't going anywhere.

Unfortunately if humans did find a planet like that, it probably wouldn't stay like that for very long.
