Andrew House Leaving Sony after 27 Years

I posted this in the PlayStation thread, you are right though it probably should have it's own. The guy rubbed a lot of people here the wrong way it seems but it's hard to argue with his success.

No ^. Harrison bounced around in his career. Andrew House has been with Playstation 27 years. He was there from the start. He's a Sony guy through and through.

I always liked him; thought he was a good bloke. I thought the negativity he got here was unfair, but I wasn't surprised, given the Xbox-ey nature of the site. You don't see that elsewhere.

Thanks, Andrew! Great run. Good luck in whatever you do next.

The guy taking his place is John Kodera. He's been with them since 1992.

More to do with certain comments he made in interviews and conferences from what I can tell and that wasn't exclusive to this site.

But yeah no way will be head over at Xbox or Nintendo.

Certainly helped turn it around for the PlayStation brand after the ups and downs of last gen and will go out on a high.

I never saw it at other sites, only here. Granted, the only other sites I read are news sites and GAF. Never saw negative remarks about House at either of those sites. I'm sure other Xbox sites or twitter accounts groused about some comment that offended their delicate sensibilities. I don't read those sites, though. This place is all I can take, lol.

Never really saw or noticed any of said negative remarks. Always got like a snarky cool vibe from him, in a good way. All the best to him wherever he may go.

Maybe he'll join J Allard in the wilderness that be Oregon.

Nah he just got some boos a couple years back at a European conference after some comment he made while on stage but I think it was just something similar to Moore seeing they wouldn't ship gears 6 months later in Europe which was a jab at Sony.
And apparently he came off a bit salty after Scorpio was announced.

Although funny to see Andy complain about Xbox sites awhile mentioning SonyGaf..

What did he do?

What did he do?

He made some cracks about the competition. Xbox guys didn't like it. "Smacks of Arrogant Sony." "He's a douche bag."

House was an excellent businessman, there is no arguing with that. He would take a shot at the competition now and then. Meh. The only thing that bothered me was his voice. I liked his accent, but on a big stage, his voice could sound high-pitched and strained. I don't know if it was nerves or not projecting enough or what, but it could be a little grating. I never had a problem with the content of anything he said, though, and I found him to be a pretty straightforward guy.

Andrew House is fine. He doesn't come across as a gamer but more of a corporate spokes person. A very successful one. He's not social with the PlayStation gamers but he gets the job done.

I don't think he is any better or worse than Phil Spencer. I think they just take different paths to the same end goal.

I'm curious what influence the new guy, Kodera, will have. I hear that he's been in charge of PSN. So, lots of outages, ha ha. We could see more of a focus on online.

I know this will come across as stereotyping, but he is Japanese right? I know PS gamers love their Japanese games, so maybe even more Japanese support coming the way of the PS.

I remember the first time I saw him speaking Japanese I was like damn that's dedication, even with that annoying voice lol.

He always reminded me of the neighborhood kid that no one else wanted to play with. But hey, he did a good job.

I like to imagine Kaz is referring to me here:

"I'm extremely grateful to Andy for the great contribution he has made to evolving the PlayStation business. Andy and I go back more than 20 years .... I would like to thank Andy for his contribution over many years, and wish him every success in the future," said Kazuo Hirai, President and CEO, Sony Corporation.

Aw, shucks. All I did was make some pro-Sony posts in a couple of forums. You're giving me too much credit.

Must be trouble in paradise. The fall of Sony has begun. Now if Cerny leaves all the pedos and corporate scumbags will finally be gone. Channeling my inner astro/Xbox fanatic that goes to bat for Microsoft to the point where they hate on human beings.

Absolutely hilarious and sad how people bash corporate execs for the way they look/sound/act over some fake console war. Judge these guys on the job they've done. You don't know them. Wish the guy the best in his next journey in life.
