Anthem

I'm actually enjoying it so far. Got the storm unlocked and it's fun to combo with people. The flying is a blast. The controls could use a little work, but they're not bad bad any means.

Glad my son bought it. I look forward to seeing if this has some legs long term

Me and Nervous had two people in our party last night that didn't have friend passes and were playing without having pre-ordered. I don't think you need it on Xbox for some reason.
Yeah I don't have one and I'm playing it.

Played a bit earlier and the rubber banding and inability to clearly see enemies from a distance made it pretty much unplayable for me. Definitely no longer going to pre-order.

Yeah it seems like there is some depth to the combat, but that gets lost with all the noise going on.

I feel like there is depth to the combat, but mostly I get reduced to button mashing.

I'm constantly bumping into friendlies and it is easy for someone to jump in front of your ultimate.

I’m digging it a lot. Haven’t had any issues since late last night. Hit max level and have geart up to 115 or something. Storm is beast.

Definitely in the minority then. The game is getting shredded across every forum.

And what's up with the load times? Holy jebus I can't remember ever waiting nearly so long for a game. I've waited 2 minutes at times in Anthem.

The combat and fly is well done, but just doesn’t do anything new overall. I’m not surprised by all the mixed reactions this is getting. Then again it’s a limited demo maybe the full game will be better.

See you on EA Access in a year.

So, it seems moving the game from external to internal storage helps the framerate a ton. I couldn't figure out why my game was so unplayable for me but not others.

It still isn't super smooth, but at least it is playable. For anyone who has the game on external storage, try moving it to internal.

The friend pass is working now. Who needs a code?

All Gone.

I think releasing in February is a bad idea. Game needs at least 6 months more time for fixes and improvements.

I agree but to be fair, I don't know any online/shared world loot shooters that didn't suffer from needing more development time.

Why are all gamers such a bunch of pissy self entitled twats.... This game is absolutely brilliant despite some issues which really should not be in a demo... But do you know what BioWare are breaking their balls on this and are working to bring us a universe that's new in a world full of great moments... What I have played on the OneX has been magnificent

You must be a Kotaku writer.

That would be the prudent thing to do. Unfortunatley, EA hates the word prudent. I doubt they will delay the game. Publishers like Activision and EA will look at what they can get away with instead of what they've learned. And sometimes, what they can get away with is actually what they've learned.

I think a lot of gamers want this to fail. They are mad at EA for past misdeeds. They are mad at Bioware for seemingly abandoning their traditional RPG model for this loot-shooter. I think that's tainted some gamers opinion even before they tried this demo.

I guess the demo is open to everyone now because I was able to download it right from the MSFT store. I played for a few hours while using the Ranger and Storm javelins. The Storm is awesome for AoE damage on the cannon fodder but is a little too squishy. At certain points during the Stronghold mission there are tons of enemies and getting caught out in the open with the Storm is not a nice place to be. The Ranger on the other hand is almost as agile but with a bit more survivability and its shield ability came in handy more than once. I really like how both classes bring useful abilities and are different to play unlike Destiny where classes play pretty much the same outside Super usage. Speaking of Ultimates I really like the fast recharge of those in this demo. I'd say Bioware hit the sweet spot on recharge timers.

The demo is a fun slice of the game. It shows a lot of potential but like most gamers I worry about how much there will be to do once the story missions are complete. These types of games are all about replayability but if I get a couple dozen hours of enjoyment out of it I'd be happy. I don't need to play one game for six months to a year from release. I'm a gamer who moves from game to game pretty frequently so a month or two on any one title is about all I can give before the new shiny catches my eye.

Please try the demo guys, its a lot of fun.

I think the humor in this game is good. Love the Matti’s and the bartender.

This is a grind/loot game, and therefore is getting evaluated as such. Sure there are some EA haters out there but many of us simply don't like the game.
The problem with a grind game is that we're going to be looping through the same content over and over. They are going with the Diablo difficulty model, so basically you do the game on normal, then hard, then whatever they call their higher difficulties. So, people are looking at this game and not feeling like playing it a ton.

So, the bar is set much higher than other games. A game that is going to require us to put hundreds of hours into it needs to be held to a much higher standard. Division 2 will get held to the same tough standard, as Destiny 2 still does.

I unlocked the Colessus javelin. It’s loads of fun. It’s growing on me a bit but it still feels a bit rough. There are definitely to many loading screens and I’ve hit more than one bug as well. The combat is really decent though once you get good at the movement.

I’m sure some EA/BioWare haters out there, but calling that as why this game is getting a mixed reaction is stupid. For me other than the good/fun combat the game is not really doing anything special to set itself apart from other games of this type. For me it is not near a must buy to devote that much time to.

For the record I’m not a EA/BioWare hater I still play EA games like SW BF2 and BFV, it has been awhile since I’ve played a BioWare game though still have nothing against them was a big fan.

Outside of the pathetic loading screens which better be addressed, I am looking forward to the full game.

Hard to see loading screens being addressed. There is no reason they would only be in because it’s a demo.

On first impression the game doesn’t appeal to me at all. Too many similarities Destiny and I didn’t even really enjoy the core gameplay. Hard pass

Watched some videos, they've really downgraded the visuals for this game. It's not ugly but it's also nowhere near as pretty as the initial reveal that was said to be running on the One X (clearly it wasn't) but this looks very average now other than the crazy weapon effects.
