As a person who has been gaming since I can remember, I've always looked forward to new console launches, even when I have no reason to be excited. I can't help myself. It's how I ended up spending $250 dollars for a 3DS.

I remember when the SNES launched, and getting it under the Christmas tree, along with a copies of Final Fight and Super Mario World.

PlayStation? Battle Arena Toshinden was the s***. Ridge Racer in my room? Yes please.

N64 with Mario 64 was at the time, the best day of my life.

I picked up an import Saturn a little later, when I could play X-Men VS Street Fighter in all its glory. Thank you 4MB cart.

Dreamcast holds a special place for me because it was the first time I really got into online gaming. Plus, f***ing SoulCalibur. Christ Almighty. Phantasy Star Online is how I was introduced to an editor at Animerica, which is how I got into the industry. Plus, the game was the best thing ever. That music! I don't know how many times I killed Dark Falz. Too many, I'm sure.

PS2. Man. I was so pumped for this thing. Even with the complete lack of decent launch titles, I couldn't help myself. I could play Tekken Tag Tournament at home. And it looked better than the arcade! And RRV--jaggies be damned. That racer was f***ing great.

Xbox. What the f*** was this thing? The console, that controller. But somehow I became a beta tester for Live. I'm sure they're others here--got that sweet pouch with the orange memory card, NFL Fever, somem other s*** I can't remember. And Halo. And Dead or Alive 3. That's all it took. I was 100% on board for what Microsoft was selling.

XBox 360--I waited for eight hours in a Walmart the night before launch for this thing, and I couldn't have been happier with it when I got home. It prompted me to buy an HDTV, which I never thought I'd do right away. And f*** the haters. Perfect Dark was great. Kameo was a lot of fun. It's too bad the damn system kept f***ing breaking on me.

PS3. I'm embarrassed to say I got in line at 7:00 p.m. for this thing. The day before it came out. On a sidewalk. In front of Walmart. Almost 30 hours waiting. And f*** more haters. I thought Resistance was great. I spent way too much time shooting glass out of panels. Just look at that glass break! The multiplayer was awesome. PS3 prompted me to buy a 1080p TV back in 07, and RR7 was amazing. Plus, blu-rays. Holy s***. Who knew?

And now we're two months away from PS4 and XBone. Depending on what you're getting--perhaps both--you'll walk out of there with some proven titles. At launch. The systems have amazing looking games, right out of the box. Not three years down the line. I can't wait to see what games will be look like three years in. Just look at 360/PS3, and the difference in quality. And again, just look at Shadow Fall ... it's a launch game!

So anyway, Christmas is definitely coming early this year for me. I'm anxiously awaiting the new systems. Anyone else pumped or what?

I can relate to the Dreamcast, it was my favorite console of all time and was my first time I ever got to go online even for the internet. I remember I went online for the first time and played a game called Quake 3 Arena and was using Dial up, my ping was about 680 (or something real high) and I remember shooting rockets and because of the delay I kept thinking someone was behind me and shooting them , so I kept looking behind, but it was just the lag. Still had a blast back then, Me and my mate stayed up till sunrise that night playing quake online against all these people and it was fun, no Kill death, no nothing, just fun.

But I'm really excited for the PS4, this is the 2nd time I have ever preordered a Console, the Dreamcast was the first time, even went to the midnight launch, but this time I missed out as I couldn't get a PS4 at launch. But still can't wait to get my hands on this thing as I haven't played a Playstation since the PS1 ( but just recently bought aPS3 to pass some time) but it will be great I know it :)

Not me, but not because I'm not excited for a new generation of consoles, but only because there's nothing at launch that is exclusive to consoles that really interests me. I'll be getting both, but I'm most likely going to wait until next year. All the games I'm excited for are coming out on PC.

There's also the fact that being 41, married with 2 children and already have a huge backlog of games, I know I have my time tied up.

I'm super pumped. I haven't been this excited since the N64; I was one of the kids that started running around the house when I first when the PS3 and 360 came out. I'm pretty over enthusiastic about the future.

I'm quite excited as well. This generation went wayyyyy too long for me, really needing those fancy new consoles with their fancy new graphics.

I always get excited for new hardware. Whether its a new CPU for my PC or a new console.

I am NOT as pumped as I was for the previous consoles. Not sure why. I guess age? I am pumped, don't get me wrong. But before, I would have done ANYTHING to make sure I had the console before launch or at LEAST by midnight. Now, I ordered it online for Day One delivery, but if it's late, oh well. The only thing that bugs me about it being late isn't the inability to play the games, but to be able to discuss my experiences on the forum.

I'm excited in the improvements made to the hardware and UI. Hopefully, no more slow boot ups and instant gaming. I do look forward to DR3.

Perhaps on another Earth you're excited.

Possibly, but I doubt it.

Don't get me wrong. I am glad this gen is finally coming to an end. I also want plenty of next gen software, but I am just not all that excited. Seems more of the same with better graphics. with the exception of BF4 which has finally gone 64 player which is a big deal in a BF game.

I'm not that excited because financially I don't have the money right now to dump on a new console. More over, most of the next-gen games are releasing on current gen and PC, so until next-gen games start releasing on just the next-gen systems, I'm in no rush to purchase a next-gen system.

I think the current gen games out right now like Diablo 3 and GTA V, are more than enough personally to tide me over for quite a while.

I'm a huge Battlefield fan and I can't wait for BF4, but I'm going to just get it on PC, and later down the road when I get a next-gen system, I'll get it for that to have as an option.

Also, my wife and I are buying a new house...so that's got a lot to do with it.

Im excited, but not as excited as I was for the 360. I stood in line 10 hours for the 360, with the One Ill probably sleep in then go pick up my pre-order the next day just to avoid the lines.

I'm glad we're getting new systems now. :)
Only 2 major downers, late launch in Japan, wich means that alot of the franchises I like get's delayed.
And that of the PC-game franchise wich I have spent more than 2000+ hours in, in the last three versions - comes with a new iteration (X Rebirth) November 15, right before the PS4-launch in Europe. :( Will be some hard choices on what to play.

If I hadn't got back into PC gaming I would be very excited, but it has kind of spoiled me. Will definitely get the consoles sometime in the future though.

I pre-ordered the PS4 the day after their E3 conference, but I can say I don't really care all that much. I used to be pretty excited about new console launches, but now I'm like... :really:

I'm looking forward to the launches, although I'd put my excitement at about a 2 right now. I'm interested to see how the launches go, how the early games perform, whether there are hardware or supply problems, what the early sales figures look like, etc. I don't plan on getting one right away, though.

i'm interested in reading impressions of the new hardware and experiences, but i've still got a huge backlog of ps3 games to focus my excitement on

I am very excited for the new systems. Even at 35, I still love gaming and cannot wait for November. My first system was the Magnavox Odyssey 2. We have come a long way.

Possibly, but I doubt it.

Well, Battlefield 2 did have 64 players back in 2005, so it's not that big of a deal for that particular franchise. :p

I'm excited enough, and can probably add dumb enough in there too, to preorder both consoles.

Killzone SF, Dead Rising 3, Drive Club, Forza 5, Ryse, the best versions of the great looking third party games...all mine at some point. And we get to play GTA5 in the meantime? Awesome.

Plus for me it really seems like with the new consoles, Publishers are really pushing out new engines that will also take PC to new heights. Current gen held PC gaming back in a lot of ways

I'm just excited for that new console smell. Only comes around once a decade, got to cherish it.
