January 2018 - Xbox One dominates release schedule with almost 70 games and 50 console exclusives

January starts with a bang. And what a bang it is. Usually January is a very slow time for releases, but one (and now two) consoles look to buck that trend.

Xbox One and Xbox One X have left competitors in the dust with regards to new releases, in the month of January there were more than double the number of releases on the Xbox Market place than either Sonys Playstation 4 or Nintendo Switch with 70 titles releasing in January.

Even more shocking is that an astonishing 76% of releases were XBOX ONE CONSOLE EXCLUSIVE and thus far have skipped both Nintendo and Sonys machines.

And of the 70 titles over 2/3rds were NEW IP

Our team will be monitoring releases all through February and will be updating you folks in a few weeks.

2018 seems to be off to a terrific start for exclusives on Xbox

90% of that exclusive list (which seems to include non exclusive games in it as well for some reason) could easily be classified as 'who gives a f***' to be honest. The article is trying to paint a picture that glosses over the fact that 1st party Microsoft titles are few and far between.

Subjectively these games might not be great. Objectively Xbox had the most exclusives in January apparently.

There was Forza in October, Luckys Tale in November. PUBG in December ...and January apparently had 50 more exclusives and another one in a month.

January did not have 50 exclusive games that are in anyway meaningful. Simple as that. My point stands, the article is a spin to deflect anyway from the non exist recent first party library.

I do not always buy a console for one exclusive, but when I do, it's for Magic 2014 - Duels of the Planeswalkers.

Stay thirsty, my friends.

Don't try and distract us from the fact that you really bought it for Winx Club: Alfea Butterflix Adventures

I think someone else here would buy a game with the words Butt Winx. Besides, Flappy Copter or GTFO!

Must be "indies don't count week" again. I will add that to the calendar so that there is no confusion.

Dat Japanese support

Got to bold everything, because it's all really important.

I agree, MS is killing it with the exclusive Japanese support.

January is also the best month ever on Xbox for made up games. I bet no one knew that Fap Master (4K) came out last month.

So many bigtime games coming out on ps4 this year, and of the top ones, I wouldn't give a single one of them up for that whole list honestly. Like Spiderman, lol, its worth that whole list and probably more stuff you can throw in for the hell of it. MS just doesn't have the muscle for big games like that anymore. Its next level stuff.

MS would need RDR2 to be exclusive just to have a chance.

Meh, I think this is the like the 36th Spiderman game? It does nothing for me. I know, I know...most gamers seem to want 85 million dollar games that are sold physical and digital, with Tuesday release dates that sell for $60 because of reason A, B, C. I personally have enjoyed the smaller games more than those expensive games at times. I have more time in the indie game Oure on PS4 than I do in COD WWII, GT Sport and Assassin's Creed Origins combined.

Personally, I am glad we have more game options on Xbox than less game options on Xbox. For me, indies ALWAYS matter. The fact that we have retail games, ID@Xbox games and Creators Club games is a nice advantage for me as a gamer to have those choices.

I just pulled Spiderman out of hat, there are others that are interchangeable with that. Not only that, there's only been 1 good open world spiderman game and that was like 14 years ago.

I know. I was just babbling anyway. Last gen was the motion control gen. This gen is the open world/resolution gen. Maybe next gen will be the gameplay gen :)
